courage love and the meaning of christmas Reviews
Very disappointed as a Christmas message but okay young romance
The novel spends a large portion of its 150 pages concerned with life philosophies and religion which are interesting but do tend to bog down the plot.) The female main character is good, but less believable. I ended up with way too many "how come" questions for Netta. For example, she's 22 so, when the biggest crisis of the book appears for her character, why does it never seem to cross her mind that, as an adult, she could make an independent choice from the one her family makes? Other characters are not well defined, especially Jim, who seems slated to be established as an rival for the narrator, (and possibly not an entirely stable person) and then changes without sufficient reason. The motivation for this change is enough to maybe make him calm down, but not enough to totally make him graciously withdraw from the competition.
After some heavy reading I was looking forward to something lighter and this was that. It tells the story of University student Spencer who goes home to his grandmother for the Christmas holidays where he meets Annetta who changes him in ways he could never have imaginedI enjoyed this book which makes no pretence at being anything other than a fun read for Christmas. Rather implausible at times with an ending that leaves you wanting to know what happens next.
Story of a college kid looking at his life and love. Interesting but wordy. Spends too much time contemplating the meaning of life.
Thought this was a short little Christmas romance. When the author starts talking about free will and predestination, I deleted it immediately. Not what I was looking for.
Loved the story, and was a feel good book, but the cliffhanger ending really bummed me out.
