Now what makes this book receives a "5 Stars" from me is the fact that this book is mostly showing pictures with important details in short explanation yet complete. It is so nice to read this book, makes you feel like you're there, back into some years (even hundred) years ago. To me - as someone who lives in Pacific Northwest - this book can make me feel like I was there when these territories just been opened, wild, nobody was around and everything was so hard to do. Yet, it is good for anyone who loves history in general.

I liked this book for its mixture of new color photos and old black-and-white historical photos.Covered are old towns, camps, and forts in Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia.I want to check out Sumpter again, as well as nearby Granite and Whitney.Nearer to me is Shaniko, which still has many buildings standing.

Interesting Historic book. Fun to learn about the history of what happened to the old mining towns.
