DNF @ 90%!!!It felt painful to keep going back to this book so at 90% I decided enough is enough. Typically I won't rate a book when I DNF but at 90% all that was left was the HEA...and I just didn't care enough to actually finish. I felt no connection at all to any of the character and I felt NO connection between the characters. The story was more focused on the heroine's case than her relationship with the Hero's.

Reviewed by Whitney@Shooting Stars ReviewsJupiter is having to do something things to help with the pack. But when she starts to think her dad is part of the problem, things get complicated. Add in that she must choose a mate in a months time and things get even worse for Pip. This book was okay, but not great. I liked the overall idea of the story, but I felt like the rest of it wasn't really done very well. I enjoyed the characters, but I wish there had been more to the story. I'm not sure if I will read more in this series, but this one was okay.

I received a free advanced reader copy of this book and voluntarily decided to review itA heautifully written reverse harem story with a wolfshifter flavour. Jupiter (Pip) is a police officer and she loves her job. She provides for her pack but her father has other plans for her. He wants her to be alpha of the pack and find a mate, and he has a plan for this and organises a selection of potential mates for Pip to choose from I love that Pip is a feisty and caring alpha female and the five guys aren't all gorgeous but have different strengths and personalities. A great story with a fabulous cast, the story drew me in and I did not want to put it down I am looking forward to reading more by TL Reeve and to future books, I highly recommend this read

It was a good start to the series. The characters were all easy to like. Some parts of the story felt rushed but overall I enjoyed it.

Jupiter's Shadow by TL Reeve is a book of change, of new beginnings. It's a Reverse Harem set in the world of werewolves. A world going extinct unless action is taken. Jupiter “Pip” is a detective with the town's police department and the daughter of the Sequatchie Pack's Alpha. She loves her job and her partner and has found a way to exist successfully in the human world. But her father has decided it's time for her to take her rightful position within the pack, get mated, and have pups. To ensure this he has recruited 4 men from surrounding packs and one from her own pack for her to choose from. If this isn't awkward enough, most of the men come with their own agendas, not love. Pip is a woman who knows her own mind, at least until she's surrounded by 5 attractive men who are all interested in becoming her mate. She's confident, feisty, intelligent, and caring. The men are Dax, her best friend from childhood who she's always crushed on; Mace, good looking but surly; Bowie and Scout, supposed twin brothers; and Benning, the beautiful Alpha. The plot goes back and forth between Pip's detective work and the pack. Honestly, I would have preferred more pack time. I loved the pack politics and would have loved for the story to go more in-depth. More time spent with the guys would be great too. The work story was good, but seemed to interfere with the flow at times. Still there were some excellent small side characters that will hopefully get the focus in future books and there are moments of steamy sex. I look forward to reading more of the Smoky Mountain Wolves in the future.

As I much as I wanted to like this book I'm afraid I just didn't. I love reverse harem stories and I like werewolf stories, and I even like crime solving mysteries but unfortunately I just did not find this book to be written very well and I really struggled with it and agonized over my review. It read to me like when a friend is telling you a long story that they know really well but they are not relating it to you in enough detail for you to understand what exactly was going on. The main plot threads were kind of split between a situation with multiple wolf packs and the main character's job as a police investigator in the human world and I felt neither were fleshed out well enough. I also felt like the characters either lacked depth or were inconsistent. The love scenes taken on their own were the better written portions of the book however it seemed like an abrupt change from the character's initial stance on not getting involved with them/not liking them. I don't need there to be a big build up or emotional connection prior to sex but it almost seemed like the book wanted us to think that had happened - even though it hadn't (if that makes any sense - I don't feel like I'm explaining it very well). Obviously this is my opinion and I've already seen that there have been some readers who feel quite differently - reading is a subjective endeavor, after all. I would recommend downloading a sample and making your own decision from there.

I was super excited to read Jupiter’s Shadow. A reverse harem and werewolves? Yes, please. But unfortunately it fell kind of flat for me. I had a hard time connecting with the characters and while it had two separate plot lines, it felt like they were smoothed over too easily. If there’s going to be conflict, I prefer there to be….conflict. You know? I did like the overall storyline, if fleshed out more, it could be pretty amazing. Juniper was conflicted, nice, and honorable. She’s thrown into an impossible situation by her dad. She has to choose a mate out of five men. Mace is taciturn, growly, and has a soft spot for her. Dax has history on his side; she’s known him all her life. Benning is alpha, leadership material, and sweet. Bowie is playful and joking. Scout is quiet and sweet. I wish the characters had been developed more. They wavered on the one note side. I hate giving low ratings. Overall, it’s a great start of a story. I just wish it had been fleshed out a little more all around. It just felt unfinished.I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. For more reviews, visit

Jupiter's Shadow is the first book in the Smoky Mountain Wolves series, and if this one is anything to go by, this series is going to be brilliant! We start off with Jupiter having her thirty-second birthday. Her dad takes the opportunity to tell his daughter - and the rest of the pack - that Jupiter now has five potential mates to choose from, and a month in which to do it. Although pretty 'miffed' to start with, Jupiter soon realises that they all have bigger problems to deal with. This is an excellent start to the series, and I look forward to the fleshing out of the world, pack politics, and jobs, that usually follows on. With each book you tend to learn a bit more about the world, which in turn draws you in more as a series progresses. Each of the five men have very distinct personalities, which made it easy to remember which one was which when you were reading.Very well written, with no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more, both in this series and also by TL Reeve. Definitely recommended by me.* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *MerissaArchaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

Jupiter's father wants her to quit her job as a detective and find a good mate, who will help rule their pack. But Jupiter never really wanted to be an Alpha and she's quite content with her job. So her father just took matters into his own hands and had five shifters (who didn't seem all that eager themselves) brought before her as the potential mates and gave Jupiter a month to choose. But what if she can't choose? The story itself was slightly different from what I expected of it. I was curious about the direction it all took and how it will play out, but I didn't much care about the characters. I guess I was unable to properly connect with them and I didn't feel any true emotion between Jupiter and the guys. Jupiter's father constantly made me bristle with his actions. I never understood his decisions and they were never really explained in the book and that confused me. Overall, the story wasn't awful, but it wasn't particularly great either.

4.5 STARSFor a short book a lot was packing into this. Not meant as a pun either LOL. Not a true menage as in 2 or 3 dudes at once but they did do the together one atta time kinda thing. A very brief MM scene but nothing offensive if thats not your thing. The story was good and the suspense part was getting good and then kinda just boom...... ended and I guess that's because, while all that was going on it was almost impossible to get into the story of her & her 5 guys started. I mean they gotta at least interact and that cant be done if she is at work all the time. LOL. Again, good story and I would read another in the series if one comes along.

2 stars because I finished it and it had some nummy sex scenesReverse harem with some PRETTY MAJOR PLOT HOLES, little to no character depth, and subtlety like a Mack truck. It's possible there was a secondary storyline but even though the MC cared, I sure as fuck didn't. Pip or Jupiter is the pack princess trying to keep everything together and her dad is just forcing her to choose between those 5 super hot guys. How will sh make her choice?Well, it's reverse harem. So she doesn't. It just felt so forced and boring that if the sex scenery wasn't nummy I would have dnf'd. Also, "guilt lancing my soul". That phrase can disappear any day now.

This was a fun read.... and hotOk, I purchased this book because of some negative things said in a Facebook reader group. Those negatives made me curious and I wanted to dive in. I really enjoyed this book! It is a Reverse Harem with a little MM added which was very ... umm.. hot. The MM part is an important piece, which no spoilers here so you just have to figure it out. Each of the men selected for Jupiter (Pip) brings something unique to the relationship. All different personalities and characteristics, as well as their own reasons for this arrangement. I did not put this book down once I started it.

Jupiter's Shadow is the first in a new series. This is a reverse harem shifters story that has a lot of smoking hot sex but it is all part of the story. I liked Pip and her guys. I had a bit of a problem figuring out her father’s motivations but eventually all worked out. This is a fun story with a bit of angst but mostly a strong woman coming into her own. Warning there is a m/m scene but it is important to the story (it is also sizzling hot)

CuteI liked this book. I love shifter books and RH so what a great combo to start with? I didn’t expect sweet HEA with lots of steamy scenes. Hot guys and I especially loved Benning. Would have liked more development as a story and plot. The case and her wolf life seemed like two parallel plots I kept expecting to intersect. It kind of fizzled out. BUT the book was still fantastic and a great shifter read. Four glittery stars!

Great start to new series!I really enjoyed this. Werewolves and Rh are my favorite genres. I liked the start of the story line with the packs it could lead to some really great action for the next books. Pip and the guys are awesome too. I always enjoy when there is a more brooding male like Mace and a little MM never hurts either. That might be my favorite part of the book. More please!

Enjoyable read with decent sexy scenesGreat RH read, although the secondary storyline of the police case seemed built up for minimum bang at the end. Not really sure what the point was other than background stress. Fun scenes with all of her men and some with m/m action which was a fun surprise although could have used more of it.

I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review. This was an enjoyable read and a new take on the reverse harem in a wolf shifter world. This author's strength is in character development and writing hot encounters. The world building was a bit weak both in terms of pack politics and the main character's police work.

To be honest i did not like this book at all, sadly cause i like pack and mates n stuff but it felt forced ,all the matings. At first Jupiter was so against everything to find an alpha etc. And then suddenly she loved it and was like a Wolfe in heat... uhh dunno

  • Sarah
    2019-05-25 21:08

EhThe story is a bit disheveled and feels awkward. The whole plot of her case at work is just weird and feels forced into the story of her pack. Her mating is awkward, confusing and tense then suddenly it is immediately not which doesn't make any sense.

Good startGood start to hopefully a new series. I liked that the steamy scenes were steamy and not just obscene. Mace is my gavorite so far followed by Benning.
