That’s a little crazy even for him. Until he sees her. One look into her haunted blue eyes and every protective instinct he has flares to life. He’ll do anything to save her. Not that it’ll be easy. Break her out of prison? No problem. Convince her she’s not broken, undeserving of love, and incapable of redemption? That might be trickier. She’s 754821 and she’s a perfect killing machine. A nameless Sentry cleaner raised from birth to destroy paranormal threats, she’s the thing monsters fear. But then Lucas rescues her and everything changes. According to him, she has a family, a home, a purpose. To Lucas, she’s not just a number; she’s Seven, and she’s beautiful. They’re nothing alike. He’s warm, open, easy to talk to. Her? Not so much. Violence is all she’s ever known. And none of that matters when she’s in his arms. But when a threat from her past emerges to destroy the new life she’s worked so hard to forge, Seven knows she’ll need to rely on her killer instincts to protect the future she longs for with Lucas. She can only hope she doesn’t lose what’s left of her humanity—and Lucas—in the process… Semi-Broken works best if read as part of the Harper Hall Investigations series (Book 1: Semi-Charmed; Book 2: Semi-Human; Book 3: Semi-Twisted). This book is intended for mature audiences. This book is not intended for anyone who doesn’t enjoy smart, kick-ass (literally) heroines and potty-mouthed, alpha werewolves, and who doesn’t appreciate a plethora of nerdy pop culture references. For the rest of you: happy reading!...

This was as close to as good as the first one as it could get. Unlike our last book heroine, Mischa, I actually liked this girl a lot. Okay, so her name is Seven. It's better than North, Blue, or Apple. You really gotta consider every possible scenario when it comes to naming your baby. The guy in this one is Lucas, who is a werewolf-cop and has been in the series since the first book. He was the "Jacob" of the first story. The sweetheart loser that the heroine threw over for Mr. Angsty Broody. Let's face it, broody always wins. We women lap that shit up.Whatever this guy's brooding about? I'm pretty sure I can fix it.So, the deal is that all of these characters were previously in a secret government agency that took out vampires before the vamps came out of the coffin. The agency was disbanded after the vamps got human rights legally, because it was no longer open season. So, our people are all screwed up in different ways, depending upon what their jobs were. Seven was a "cleaner", meaning she would kill anyone who needed killing to "clean up" a situation. It could have been witnesses, innocent bystanders, vamps that were hard to kill, other people in the agency. She was an equal opportunity assassin. Seven doesn't even know how to bake.Since she was sold as a baby and was trained to be a heartless, unemotional killer all of her life, she wasn't exactly ready to fit in to normal society when the agency went bust. So, where to put her? Hmm.... I know, let's shove her in a mental institute where a sadistic doctor could torture her and do crazy experiments on her! That will NEVER come back to haunt us. It's the best idea ever!Ouch. That's gonna leave a mark. Lucas helps bust Seven out of the nuthouse and brings her home with him to "heal". And, according to every romance book ever, the best way to heal all things that ail us girls is the magic peen. Apparently, it can cure the crazy with just one use. Now, that's handy!According to men, they are all Magic.Still, magic or not, this book was fun enough. I wish there would be a little more danger in this series, like REAL bad guys. And, I wish that the author wouldn't reuse some of the same lines, like "I love you" - "I know", in each book; and the same I-have-to-stay-away-from-you-for-your-own-good thing. But, I will definitely read the next one. I like the couple already.

Shifters and dhampyres, wit, humor and excitement, acceptance and love. Isabel Jordan delivers it all in Semi-Broken, another wonderful installment in the Harper Hall Investigations series. “In Lucas’ arms, she wasn’t a mistake, a wapon, a freak. She was just… Seven.”Alpha wolf shifter Lucas Cooper, who we’ve met in previous Harper Hall installments, has been tasked to break free the prisoner known as 754821 from the supernatural prison. Something he was unsure of until he saw beautiful pleading blue eyes aged by pain. But getting her out of the prison will be walk in the park compared with persuading her to believe she’s worthy of love and happiness. She was born Grace Riddick, but raised with only a numeric designation as a killer by Sentry to dispose of paranormal threats. Even the things that go bump in the dark are afraid of her. But Sentry is gone, she’s supposed to carry the final mission they charged cleaners with. But the hope and promise of family and love she finds in the shifter’s eyes is irresistibly tempting. They say opposites attract and these two couldn’t be more different. He’s easy going and cares deeply for this friends, she’s a quiet loner. Can they overcome their differences while attempt to neutralize the danger that’s threatening to destroy her?I stopped reading paranormal romances a while ago when they all started to feel the same. Of course I made exceptions here and there. After reading Isabel’s “weird” bio section knew I had to read her books. I’ve come to treasure each of these gems as they appeal so much to my own sarcastic nature, love of pop culture and general weirdness. I hope she never runs out of ideas for this series which I like to think of as a mix between Moonlighting, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and a few others. But I’m getting off track, so let’s get down to it.Lucas thought he was in love with Harper and that “the one” for him had gotten away. I was completely team Riddick when it came to Harper’s love life, but Lucas is such a great and easy guy to like that I couldn’t help but want him to find his happiness and who better to do it with than with Riddick’s sister! I loved how this sexy hot alpha wolf finally realized what true love was when he met and got to know Seven. Of course it wasn’t easy as Seven had a lot to deal with, starting with incorporating herself into society. She also had to come to terms with her past actions and accept that she’s worthy of having family, friends and a life with love and happiness. So theirs was a slow, sexy, awkward and funny hot burn. I loved every minute of it.I also enjoyed having back all the charming characters from past books who I’ve come to of as my own friends that not only help out the couple but add a fun and funny layer to the story. I can’t wait to read the next installment, possibly for Nikolai and Vi?Semi-Broken is book #4 in The Harper Hall Investigations Series by Isabel Jordan. It’s a sexy and sweet paranormal romance with a kick@$$ heroine written from several points of view with a happy ending. It probably lost a star for the first 16%. Lucas droned/whined on and on about his love for Harper. How the baby she had should of been his. Like on and on...and on, until a sudden and embarrassingly dorky announcement...epiphany...that, "no" actually, he never really loved her. *eyeroll*Surprisingly, Vi ended up not being the heroine of this book. I would have sworn Ms. Jordan was hinting at her and Lucas being a couple and another 1/2 of a star was lost for having to hear that yes, they apparently did have a brief fling/dated/tried??? We never find out how far it went between them. I'm assuming no sex, because...I want to. I don't want my H/h's having to regularly hang out with their past lovers. Just saying. The last 1/2 star lost was because Lucas was a beta male. He was super sweet, and though it seemed like he fell in and out of love faster than you can say Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, I still liked him. I loved he put Seven first and was growly possessive of her, but like with Hunter, the author chose to make the h way more powerful than the H. Now, I have nothing against a strong heroine, so don't hate, but I want more of an Alpha male in my romance. I just do. Not one that gets schooled by his love interest. She could kick his butt, and everyone knows it. Luckily, Lucas found this hot. I did not. Seven was an awesome heroine though. All she'd been through and she was still willing to open her heart to others, eager to belong. Her bluntness was amusing at times, silly at others. But Lucas' cool factor was shaky at best throughout, so maybe that makes them a good match? Will I read the next one? Yes. I still find this author's voice enjoyable and I want to find out how Nik gets redeemed.

Semi-Broken is the fourth book in the Harper Hall Investigations series, a series I am absolutely in love with. This book and series has quickly become a comfort series to me. When I need a good read with some quirky but lovable characters this is definitely on the list! There is plenty of snark, sarcasm, wit, and friendly banter that happens between these characters that I just connect to them all. I just can’t get enough! After months of searching, Harper believes that she has finally found Riddick’s little sister. Same as Riddick, Grace had been given to foster care when she was an infant. She was then sold to Sentry and became only known as #754821. Harper sent Lucas and Violet to the Midvale Prison Psych Ward to seek out the inmate that was presumed to be Grace. Having never known her name it is decided that #754821 would go by the name of Seven. She had been captured after Sentry was disbanded and she’s been locked up, drugged, and experimented on for years. Seven had exceptional skills and in her previous career, was trained to be a cleaner. When everything went to hell, it was the cleaner that was brought in to eliminate…well, everyone. It is for this reason that Seven was considered extremely lethal and without conscience. Not having known life outside of Sentry or prison, how Seven is going to react to “real life” was questionable. As much as Riddick and Harper want to help Seven, they couldn’t have her at their place. They feared that it would put their baby in danger as well as be cramped living arrangements. With the options being limited Lucas stepped up to offer a hand and let Seven move-in with him for the time being. This puts both of them in a comfortable-uncomfortable situation as they seem to have developed a bond with a side of oooh-la-la. When Seven is marked for death the whole team has to come together to figure out who it is that wants Seven and why? This life or death situation puts things into perspective for Lucas and Seven as they quickly learn what is worth fighting for.Lucas Cooper is a shape-shifter who has been a part of this series since book one. For the longest time, he was sure that he carried feelings for Harper. He believed that he was in love with her and that it should have been him that married Harper, not Riddick. Now that Riddick and Harper have had their baby, Haven, things have become even harder on Lucas. That is until he met Seven. He quickly realizes that he is not in love with Harper, and he is confused by his attraction to Seven. Lucas has never met anyone like Seven and frankly that scares him. It also just makes the attraction between them a delightful smoldering of want!I loved Seven’s character! 1) her name is Seven, 2) her character reminds me of River Tam from Serenity (I LOVED that movie), 3) she is a kick-butt heroine, and 4) she has super skills. She has spent her life essentially as a machine so she views everything from a unique perspective. I enjoyed that in the beginning she decided to view getting to know her family as a “mission.” It took away the awkwardness you would expect with someone that removed from society. Made her integration believable. This book is a fast-paced story that has plenty of action, danger, and sexy times. The wonderful thing about this series is that the main characters you have come to know from book one are still a part of the story. Each book focuses on a different situation with a different couple but their story is completely different each time. Having all the characters makes me look forward to reading these books. You can read this story as a stand-alone but I suggest that you read this series in order. You will just love it!This review is based on a complimentary book I received from Author, Isabel Jordan. I think I’ve made it clear in my other reviews that I’m not a fan of deep, dark and emotionally scarring reads. For the most part, I just want to be entertained when I read. I prefer light-hearted-but-still-emotional reads that make me LAUGH a time or two. That’s why I love this series. It reads like a perfect blend of all my favorite romantic comedies, action movies and supernatural TV shows. That’s what kept me coming back to this series after Semi-Charmed, and why I loved Semi-Human and Semi-Twisted.Semi-Broken still has all the elements that made me fall in love with the rest of the series, but it isn’t EXACTLY like it’s predecessors. There’s a little less slapstick comedy, a little more emotion, and a LOT more ass-kicking. And the fact that 90% of the ass-kicking is done by the heroine? Well, that pretty much makes this book my own personal brand of catnip.I’ll be honest, though. I wasn’t one of the readers who was crying out for Lucas’s story. I thought he was a good secondary character in the other books, but I wasn’t entirely sold on the idea of him as a hero. I’m happy to say I was proven wrong. Somewhere along the lines in this series (when I wasn’t looking, apparently), Lucas became HOT. He’s alpha without being an alpha-hole, which isn’t easy to find in the world of paranormal romance. And Seven? Ah, Seven. She’s the anti-Harper Hall. Where Harper is snarky and open and supremely likeable, Seven is somewhat confused by emotions and unsure of how to relate to normal people, so she keeps her guard up all the time. Seven is like a cross between Nikita from La Femme Nikita (the 90s TV series that I ADORED), Leelo from The Fifth Element and Alice from the Resident Evil series, maybe with a little Jason Bourne thrown in for good measure.. In other words? My catnip. All. The. Way.So, long-story-short: get to your Kindles, folks. This one’s another keeper. Bring on the next book in the series! I have my one-clicking finger at the ready... Full disclosure: We received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

"Semi-Broken" if the tale of how Harper and company find Riddick's missing sister, Grace or 754821. Dr. Violet Marchand and Luca Cooper enter Midvale prison where they find her drugged and chained to her bed. After getting her into an interrogation room, it becomes instantly clear 754821 or Seven as she will learned to be called and Luca have an immediate response to each other. Then Dr. Mengela, the doctor responsible for performing experiment of Seven and keeping her caged interrupts them and all he'll breaks loose.Once Luca and By get Seven out of the compound they bring her to Harper Investigation's offices where they have to figure out where Seven will live. After considering several options it soon becomes clear that Luca's home makes the most sense. As Seven learns to fit into society and learn to work cases with the investigative team she also is falling for Luca. However, Luca has been warned by Vi that Seven is not ready for a relationship. The trouble is no one warned either Seven or Lisa's raging hormones. All is going fairly well until someone takes a shot at Seven. Now the hunt is on to locate the assassin and take him out before he spoils Seven's attempt at a new life. There was plenty of tension and intrigue in this read. I also loved the deadly innocence of Seven but this book left me wanting more. It felt as though it ended too abruptly and I felt the storyline was rushed towards the end. I'm hoping the next and final book in the series will wrap things up nicely!

Breaking into a mental facility and rescuing someone seems a bit extreme, but if you've read the other books you'll know it's mostly the norm lol.Lucas goes to rescue a woman they soon call Seven. She's Riddicks sister, a killer or a cleaner as she used to be called. Can she learn to show her emotions not act like the killer she was. These books just keep getting better and can't wait for the new one.

Finally a story about Lucas, I liked his character from the first book. It was nice to see something good happen to him. I also really liked 7 and getting a different insight on the cleaners. I also can’t wait to read V’s story next.Just like the previous books in this series this one was fun, cute, and just a joy to read.

How did I fail to review this MONTHS ago when I read it? I don't know, and unfortunately, the book didn't make a permanent impression, though I recall it was about saving Riddick's sister from a nuthouse and her and Lucas falling for each other and dealing with her psychological recovery.
