For centuries Robert Shoalman has lived the life of an immortal in a world filled with pain and loneliness. His gift as an artist is the only way to relieve the pain of the curse he lives with. What better way to end it all then to find one gifted as he is, who could paint with enough emotion and soul to kill with a paintbrush. Kyrissa Spears has a gift, she paints passion into her pictures, but her abilities are untrained, uncontrolled and who better to help her master her talent than Robert? Would it be possible to polish her abilities to capture emotions, setting him free? What would happen to her gift? Would it be destroyed? Would she lose the soul she puts into her strokes?Through the tormenting lessons Robert has put Kyrissa through, he never once thought he would begin to feel something for another person, let alone love. Kyrissa’s pure soul, innocent zest for life rekindles something within Robert that he hasn’t felt in centuries and he questions his plans, but he has brought evil to their doorstep and the piper must be paid. Toni Decker ‘s Shoalman Immortal digs into the life and pain of a tortured artist who has spent centuries trying to create the perfect painting that will release him from the demon who clings to his soul. Follow the journey as we live among the mystical, the cursed and the gifted as their guardians attempt to keep them safe from the biggest threat they have ever faced. Heroes will die, others will learn to live again through the power of love, but will it all be stolen by a cruel twist of fate?Hang on tight, prepare to think, to follow each scene and piece together the unbelievable until the lines of reality and fiction are blurred. Brilliant writing, gripping tension and characters gaining strength through times of desperation. I was lucky enough to read the second installment to this series in it's ARC form and it is wonderful. The characters I came to love in IMAGES ETERNAL are back and so much more! I fell for so many things in this story. Robert, mostly. But also the writer's ability to take me into the art and the creation of it. Those scenes are sensual and captivating. You will be hooked from the beginning again by these characters and be left immediately wanting that next book.

Manda's 5 Star ReviewWow!! If you thought the first book was good then you are going to really love this one!! This one is even more engaging than the first. This writing duo has a gift for storytelling and creating incredibly fantastic and deep characters. I started this book the second I finished the first book and was again completely wrapped up in the world they created. I read this entire book in one sitting and loved every second of it. We learned in book one that the secrets Lucien protect are centered around the mysterious and intimidating Robert Shoalman. Robert is a gifted and brilliant artist who hides a painful secret within each of his paintings. What others see as art he sees as a lifetime of pain and guilt. I love the depth of this character. He comes across so intimidating and angry but when the whole story is revealed we see the layers that are buried deep within. Kyrissa might be my favorite character in the series. She has an amazing heart and tries to put everything she has into her painting, but fear of the past holds her back from reaching her full potential. There is so much tension and mystery that unfolds when Robert tries to teach Kyrissa how to tap into and unlock the powerful emotions she can't reach on her own. I love the way this story unfolds and develops. This is my new favorite paranormal romance read and I hope these amazing authors continue to give us these amazing stories!!

*This book was provided by the author/publisher for an honest review.Falling in love was never supposed to be part of the picture. OMG, I totally love that tagline!! It summarizes the book in such an ironic fashion because you see Kyrissa Spears has a gift. Unfortunately, the gift is also a curse! Her paintings capture emotions so strong that is powers can kill!! Sadly Kyrissa can't control it! One man can! An Immortal named Robert Shoalman. He longs for death until he meets Kyrissa. Does their meeting help both sides or hinder their progress? Is there something else on the horizon? You will have to read on, but I will STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU DO!!If you are a fan of Image Eternal, you will find that Mandy and Lucien make a come back in this book and (if you read my first review) the UNPOLISHED DIAMONDS are showing their facets!! The duo is honing their skills and their sophomore book did not disappoint. The steam factor did turn up a notch, but that is an A PLUS selling point in my book!! Keep on polishing those gems ladies, I will be waiting with my Nerd Girl hat off to you!!! <3 You!! XOXO***Review has been done in conjunction with Nerd Girl Official. Robert Shoalman was a lost soul who for hundreds of years has suffered the curse of immortality. He has led a very lonely life and suffered the loss of so many loved ones because of his curse. The only way he stows off the pain of the curse is to paint. When he meets Kyrissa he see's a way of ending his curse and bringing out her gift that she lost a long time ago when her mother died. But can he tutor her to bring out that passion and feeling enough in her painting to set him free from the curse. But unbeknown to them somebody has already got their sights on Kyrissa and her painting skills. Wow what can I say this book is Amazing. It has been written with such a fierce passion. The storyline is enchanting and captures you from the beginning. The characters are so well thought out and charming. I love that it as such an original theme and is not at all old fashioned like some paranormal stories where once you've read one you've read them all. A great Paranormal Romance with a bit of a twist. Sent a free copy by author in return for my honest review!

Toni is an excellent author with a pleasant writing style. I read the first book in this series, but happy to report you don't have to read the first one to get this one. But having read the first one it is nice to see how the characters from the first one continued on. The pace is important to me and is spot on. It has a natural flow to it that keeps you reading.I really enjoyed Robert in this story. He is a strong character who is more worried about others than himself. I find Kyrissa matches up with him well. They play well of each other. I also really enjoyed the addition of Mama T and having Lucien and Mandy back in this part. The plot is well developed and has some twists you don't see coming, and some where your gut feeling is telling you there is something more going on here. All in all I really enjoyed this book and enjoyed reading it.I have received this book from the author for an honest review. The sequel to Images Eternal puts Ky and Robert together while ramping up the paranormal to high levels. We gain more insights into the Romani lore that enriches this version of our world while focused on the romance and paranormal struggles of these two artists. Well paced and engaging, I look forward to book 3 in this series. There is a touch more adult content in this book than in book 1.

Shoalman Immortal by Toni Decker is another terrific book. These characters are permanently embedded in my repertoire. I would love to see a lot more like this. I really thought Mandy and Lucien's story was the greatest, in book 1, but nothing prepared me for Kyrissa and Robert. Oh, the amazing things they can do. I hope this was indeed and HEA, because they sure earned it.

Shoalman Immortal is the second installment of the "Shoalman Chronicles", which is a trilogy written by authors Toni and Kira Decker. In my opinion you can read it as a standalone because according to the Acknowledgements at the end of the book, it was written before the first book Images Eternal, which I reviewed previously and that you should definitely check out. :)This is a New Adult book with a stronger fantasy touch and paranormal elements that in the previous book are less prominent, because the couple of Book #1 is made of two Guardians, Lucien and Mandy, who came from Romani origins and are sworn to protect the main characters of this second volume, Kyrissa and Robert.Characters: Kyrissa and Robert's relationship for me outshaded a bit Lucien and Mandy's. Don't get me wrong, I also loved the other couple. Mandy was an interesting woman and Lucien as well because he was so cute since he's still a teen and innocent in a way, but Kyrissa and Robert had different layers of deep that are usually what draws me in a story. Kyrissa is more introvert than Mandy. She has learnt to bottle up her emotions ever since her mother died and she was left alone and seemed a bit aloof. It seemed as if everything was OK despite things hurt her, but she always had a sort of 'well, whatever, let's move on' attitude that made her seem more careless than her friend. At times I felt she wanted to go towards danger, especially when she met with Professor C. Robert amazed me as a character. He is 500 years old but he is trapped in the body of a 22 year old man forever, unable to feel any pain. He comes from another era, and I liked how treated Kyrissa with respect as if he was still in 1800. They looked very realistic and I could feel their instincts as their relationship grew chapter after chapter and there wasn't a love at first sight type of relationship, they slowly grew to love and appreciate each other and demolish the walls around them.Overall, I find this to be a nice story with a good writing and plot points and characters. There weren't harsh decisions or shallow people, I felt everything was crafted nicely and fell into place well. I was glad to know more of the backstory hinted in the first book, keep up the good work!

My honest review (ARC)Title: Shoalman ImmortalStatus: book #2 of seriesAuthor: Toni DeckerGenres: New Adult, Paranormal/Urban FantasyRobert Shoalman is an immortal. He continues his life with mortal guardians that help keep him safe from his curse that is following him around. Being immortal has been difficult for Robert. Everyone he loves leaves his life too soon. For them, it is a normal life cycle, but for him, it is just a small portion of his life. He vows to keep others at a distance. He can't continue to lose everyone he loves and stay sane. Robert is a fantastic painter which is part of his curse while being immortal. His paintings have so much feeling in them that people have big reactions to them. Kyrissa, has the biggest reaction and is drawn to the pictures emotions. Kyrissa Spears has a gift. Unfortunately, the gift is also a curse! Her paintings capture emotions so strong that is powers can kill!! Sadly Kyrissa can't control it! One man can! An Immortal named Robert Shoalman. He longs for death until he meets Kyrissa. The plot is well developed and has some twists you don't see coming, and some where your gut feeling is telling you there is something more going on here. Robert was an intense but interesting person so read abou, but I like it very much. He is a strong character who is more worried about others than himself. I find Kyrissa and Robert were great together, even though it took them a while to know it.

Free your mind. Open it to the possibility of more that what can be comprehended by touch and sight. Open yourself to the reality of more.Love has a way of sneaking up on you. Kyrissa has the gift to kill with a simple painting. She was a gifted artist with something very special about her talent. She was looking for someone to help her control the gift. Then she finds another gift and equally talented artist, Robert. He wants to end his very existence. For years he hoped to do so with each new painting he created. This was a surefire win-win for both, but there was a catch. The demon always gets his due. There were moments of truth. There were moments of pure confusion. But as you open your mind to the possibility and the chance of what could or would be. You become consumed by what was happening right before you. The words on the pager are just consuming and provoking. There was suspense, drama, romance, fantasy all blending and blurring with intensity and cohesion.

I received the Shoalman Immortal for an honest review. I wholeheartedly recommend this book!! In the first book in the series, Immortal images, you are given a little insight into Robert Shoalman's life and also into Kyrissas's. Robert Shoalman is a world known painter whose paintings focus is always death. He has also been alive for five centuries. Kyrissa who has been painting her whole life uncovers a gift that causes someone dear to her to die the last time she used it. To control this gift Kyrissa seeks help from the only person who she can't kill, Robert. Tension rises and passion ignites putting both Robert and Kyrissa's lives in each others hands. There are a ton of details showing all of the steps it takes to create a painting that I personally had no clue that was how a painting was created. Hands down one of my favorite books this year. I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait till the third book!!!

I read Images Ethernal a month ago, and not knowing that there are more books from this author duo I wanted there to be a book about Kyrissa and Robert - and there was. I started Shoalman Immortal with some pretty high expectations and they were not met. After book one, this felt flat. I was unable to connect to any of the characters, it just didn't click and left me just sad. There was so much writing about emotions, but reading I didn't feel them until the very end.. It was nicely written and I really loved the plot line, it has so much potential. 2,5 GR stars from me. Thanks to The New Adult Book Club I received a copy from author in exchange for an honest review.

This is Book 2 of The Shoalman Chronicles by Toni Decker. If you have read the first book, the writing style remains the same but the plot gets a bit more complicated. After all, this is Robert Shoalman’s story now and he is the centre of it all. He was introduced in the first book on Lucien’s story. There was so much mystery surrounding him and only a glimpse into his persona was permitted. In this book, we get to know the man the Solvak family is protecting and the history of the painting collection. It has been revealed in the first book that both Lucien and Mandy were guardians. Robert has two: Lucien and Tila, or Mama T who is Lucien’s and Carmen’s grandmother. In one of Lucien’s band sorties, Kyrissa who is Mandy’s ward, met the genius behind the collection of paintings in the Gallery. Robert and Kyrissa immediately felt a deep connection when Kyrissa started to describe the emotions radiating from the paintings. Robert was more impressed when he found out that she was also a talented painter. He offered her lessons in his studio but initially did not reveal too much of himself for fear of driving her away if she knew the truth about him. Robert, always the perfectionist and consummate artist, was extremely exacting and demanding. Kyrissa was drawn to him, flustered by his presence and exasperated at the same time. He was a god to her and to see his painting The Isle of the Dead was the ultimate in her bucket list. Every day spent with Robert, there was so much to learn about mixing paints, colours, building canvasses and paint brushes from scratch. But with every day, Robert’s fear that the demon Balen was closing in, was getting stronger and that puts Kyrissa in grave danger. What was so special with Kyrissa? Will Robert be able to save Kyrissa from Balen? Will his curse finally be broken? Will he finally bring out Kyrissa’s gift? Will they have a future together? I can only describe the writing as a slow burn and very intense. The author divulges facts about Robert in dribs and drabs, always holding back from the reader until the very end. Like the first book, the two main characters dance around each other, in denial of their feelings and resisting their attraction. Everyone around them knew they were had feelings toward each other. I admit that my patience was tested when I starting to feel frustrated with the long-drawn-out courtship, the walls that took a long time to tear down, and the stubbornness of both characters. If you appreciate a leisurely build up, then you will enjoy reading the series. I was amazed at the detailed description of paint colours and how they were mixed. Along with Kyrissa, I felt schooled in the creation of canvasses and the bristles used for paint brushes. This was reminiscent of Harry Potter choosing his wand the wand choosing him. It was interesting to read about a whole range of colours that only painters know about. The author appears to have conducted painstaking research of the series’ theme and it lends the books so much credibility. I like this installment better than the first because there was greater conflict and the big reveal at the end was totally unexpected. Yes, maybe, in the beginning, I had my suspicions of the villain but the connection with Kyrissa that was brought to light was astonishing. The author successfully sustained the suspense until the last two chapters. A dear life was lost in the process of saving someone, happiness was perpetually elusive but hope was never lacking and the prize, in the end, was all worth it.I give this book 3-stars. This can be read as a standalone because there is no cliffhanger and essential events from the first book are mentioned for fluidity. However, the series would be best appreciated if read chronologically. I enjoyed the old school English that Robert speaks. He’s an amusing alpha male who needs to keep up with the times when it comes to understanding women. The characters’ personalities were consistent and well-developed through their thoughts and dialogues. The story was told from Kyrissa’s and Robert’s alternating POVs which did not disrupt the continuity of the story. The chronicling of events was seamless.

Five StarsThere are moments when you get to lose yourself in an art gallery or museum, all of the colors and textures, mediums and subjects transport you into the mind of the artist at that moment and time in their lives. Wandering around in that sensory filled paradise is exactly what it is like to read Shoalman Immortal by Toni Decker. This is the second book I have read by Ms. Decker and I have completely fallen in love not only with this series but also the stellar writing of the author. She has the incredible talent to not only making the characters jump off the page but also their emotions and feeling for one another. Kyrissa and Robert are the main characters of this particular story. Their chemistry is undeniable and adorable with a spark that the reader cannot wait to watch develop into an inferno. In this particular book, the emotions are based on the paintings the main characters love. Her description of the colors of the pigments are foreign to even the most stocked Crayola crayon collections. But she adds where the pigments come from and how even the route they traveled to get into the story. It all adds to the mix of perfectly relaying what the characters are seeing and also feeling. I highly recommend this book, this series and this author!!! I am so glad I was introduced to her writing!

Shoalman Immortal – By Toni Decker***** 4 out of 5 Stars*****Shoalman Immortal is the Second book in The Shoalman Chronicles. This story follows Kyrissa Spears. Kyrissa was born with powerful, but deadly abilities. When she paints the picture, she captures emotions so strong they can kill. All Kyrissa wants to find someone who can help unlock and control her abilities. This is what she finds when she meets Robert Shoalman, but unfortunately he is the only person she cannot paint and accidentally kill.Robert Shoalman on the other hand after 5 centuries of pain, loneliness, and life on the run craves release from his immortality. This is until he meets the beautiful Kyrissa who shares the same abilities as him. She is the only one that can paint his death and break the curse, but that comes at a prices of destroying her gift and being lost forever. But none of this will matter if the demon hunting him finds him first.Toni Decker writing is amazing, you get enchanted with the story line and it captures you from the beginning. When we first met Robert in the first book, he comes across very intimidating and mysterious but during this story you see the different layers of Robert that are buried deep. Kyrissa has an amazing personality you can feel how much she puts into her painting but fear holds her back from full filling her true potential. This characters are different in some ways but they balance each other out, which makes them a perfect match. Each characters in this story are well thought out and has so much depth to them it’s hard not to love them each individually when they are both such intriguing characters. The story unfolds and develops in such a way it has you turning page after page, and before you know it you have finished the book. The story line in the second book here is defiantly more engaging than the first. There are twists you don’t see coming, and you’re on the edge of your seat because deep down you know something more is going to develop.I love this take on paranormal romance, and will continue to read these stories because of it. The duo of writers has the right balance between paranormal and the romance, they don’t make predictable and keep you wanting more! This is a refreshing, heart stopping read and can’t wait to see where the third book in the series The Shoalman Chronicles - Dark Ink Embrace takes you.

The second book in the Shoalman Chronicles focuses on the development of Kyrissa and Robert as characters and centers on their unique gifts that picks up on the timeline right as the first book ends. Categorized as a Paranormal Romance, this book doesn’t disappoint in either one of these categories.Kyrissa is a young painting student. Plagued by the constant drive to reconnect with her raw talent, she finds herself attracted to the one person on earth who can help her advance her skills and possibly melt her heart.Robert is a world renowned artist and has been for over 500 years. Cursed to paint, Robert spends his days doing all that he can to protect himself, and soon Kyrissa from Balen’s hand of destruction. Caught between what he knows is the right path in his mind and the feelings tugging at his heart strings, Robert’s days are anything but easy. Can working together save them both or will Balen have the last laugh?Once again, I was extremely happy with the way that the authors used a more unique medium as the centerpiece of their story. The detail that they get into when discussing painting as a professional trade is outstanding. They get into how to create your own canvas, how to create your own brush, and even how to mix your own paints using special expensive components from around the world. The fact that it was such a huge focus in the book really made me appreciate the story even more. I also enjoyed that the story was able to continue from the first one and as well as switching character focus without it being awkward or rough. However, as this is the second story, I really needed more from this book to get it back to that 5 star status. There were a lot of questions left unanswered such as: Why does Kyrissa need a guardian? Who is Balen and how did he come to be? Why did guardians come into existence/what is the Romani culture and why is it important? I also got slightly annoyed with the back and forth pull between Robert and Kyrissa, I would have liked to have seen that addressed from Kyrissa instead of taking friendship between the two at face value. I know I would have never allowed for that to happen, no matter how hot or talented the guy was. Despite this book’s lack of answers this story is quite captivating and leaves you wondering what will come next in this interesting and well-crafted world.

I give Shoalman Immortal, book 2 of the Shoalman Chronicles by Toni Decker, 4 stars. This book picks up where Images Eternal left off, but it switches main characters. Kyrissa Spears has always wanted to be an artist. Her paintings are good, just not great. She gets by with her paintings, mainly with the help of her college professor who commissions her to paint for clients. Painting is a passion of hers, she will stay up for hours and hours when she gets into her work. Her professor has helped, plus he knew her mother, who passed long ago and she misses with a heart-wrenching need. But she needs more direction, like the one who paints and owns The Shoalman Collection. His paintings are dark, emotional and she idolizes him and his abilities.Robert Shoal man is an artist who has a great talent but also a hidden, dark secret. He is an immortal with a curse. He cannot deal with chaos, anger, fear; any of the darker emotions. When it gets too bad, he is forced to paint those emotions away. He has seen so many loved ones die; and he can’t even properly grieve for them. Nor can he love again or the one who cursed him will find and destroy her. He is tired of this and just wants the eternal rest death offers. And then he meets Kyrissa…He sees her potential and agrees to take her on as an apprentice. She is fun to be with and has made him feel things he has not let himself feel in centuries. He is able to keep them locked away normally, but with her, they are slowly coming to the surface. Can she make his life worth living? In this instance, I think the sequel was better than the first. That could be just me since I enjoy and relate to the art world more. I like these characters and it seemed to me that there more depth to them and more vulnerability. Plus there was more of a sense of family love in this one. I couldn’t put this book down and can’t wait to read the next one.

Shoalman immortal by Toni Decker is the second book in the Shoalman Chronicles, it’s a fantastic five star read, its written by two people Toni and Kira but you would never know as they write so seamlessly. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in the series Images Eternal, and I enjoyed this one more. I have loved reading about all the characters and love how each book seems to focus on one main pair, but the other characters are still very heavily involved. All the stories intertwine and bring out more of each character’s depth, story and history. This book centres on Kyrissa Spears who is an art student with a tragic past, she seems destined to keep hurting herself as she loves to paint, needs to paint like most people need to breath. But has a fear that if she paints with her passion and heart she will lead to the death of another loved one like she believes she lead to the death of her mother. She needs help, she is in school and painting pieces for a collector her teacher has set up for her but its’ not enough. The need to get to her gift is getting to much for her to bear. She loves art and is hoping to complete her final project on the Shoalman collection, not realising how close she is to it all.The other main character is Robert Shoalman himself, a man who has had several names over the many lives he has lead as an immortal. Rocksholman to the woman he feels is most like a mother to him Tila, but Robert to most, he is supposed to be the nephew to the great but reclusive artist who created the Shoalman collection, when in fact he is the man himself. Having lived the last several hundred years but not able to reveal this to anyone outside his group of guardians who are like family to him.Robert tries to help Kyrissa control and develop her gift, he tries to show her how he does it without revealing the secret of his immortality. He doesn’t realise how hard it will be especially when he develops strong feelings for her. They fight the attraction, but only time will tell if they can keep fighting it, and if Robert can help with her gift and keep her safe.

I think this was a dark romance but was kind of sweet at the same time. The story was written well that the author could follow along easily. I could understand what was going on with the characters within the story and what their role was. You cannot always say that about every book. I love that the fact this book was part of a series. This book focused on new characters separate from the first book in the series who were the infamous Robert and quirky Kyrissa. The characters in the first book are in the book but only as support for the main characters, Lucien and Mandy. I thought it was fate how Kyrissa and Robert found each other through their ability evoke emotions with painting. Kayrissa studied Robert’s artwork for many years and Robert sought out a special someone that would be able to solve all his problems that have affected him forever!!!!! They found something special in each other that may or may not last forever. Sounds mysterious to me!!!Kyrissa and Robert were quite the match. Kyrissa was a tough cookie that wanted to learn all she could from Robert and help him at the same time. She wanted to be able to paint with the same passion as Robert does in his painting or so she thought. She comes to find out that there is so much more to Robert that meets the eye. She comes to find out that Robert has a lot going on that most people do not know. Issues that are not even realistic to the average person but Kyrissa takes it in stride the second she finds out. I guess it says something about Kyrissa. Robert is another quirky character that I enjoyed. He tries his best to keep things platonic and professional with Kyrissa to teach her to find her own artistic passion and maybe help him in the process. Robert finds himself interested in the young beautiful artist for many reasons. I liked this book for different reasons. I am giving the book 4 stars.

Shoalman Immortal (The Shoalman Chronicles Book 2)By: Toni Decker5 out of 5 starsThe story Shoalman Immortal (The Shoalman Chronicles Book 2) by Toni Decker is a Young Adult Paranormal/Fantasy book. This is the story of Kyrissa Spears and Robert Shoalman. Kyrissa paints and does so with such emotion in her paintings that it is dangerous. She has always admired Robert Shoalman and his collection of paintings that when presented with an opportunity to be taught by him she jumps at the chance. Robert has lived a very long time. He is tired and doesn’t wish to be immortal. So when Kyrissa agrees to his offer to be his student, he sees a way for her to help him with his wish. Of course Kyrissa knows nothing of his wishes or his curse. Can Robert help Kyrissa regain her passion for painting? Can she grant his wish and end his curse or is she in more danger now than ever before? This is an exciting sequel to Images Eternal. Although we were introduced to Kyrissa and Robert in the first book, this one gives more information on Robert’s curse and Kyrissa’s ability as a painter. Mandy, Kyrissa’s best friend and roommate and Lucien who is Robert’s guardian and assistant both are featured in this book. You have a very comfortable feeling with this second story, as if you are calling on old friends. Each character, no matter how big their part is, has a life all their own and contributes to the story. I found the storyline just as, if not better, than the first book. I found this book carries a lot of emotions with it and you find yourself really feeling each and every one. Be ready to not get a lot of sleep when reading as I found I just couldn’t put this book down without having withdrawals. If you are looking for an awesome follow up to Images Eternal, you won’t be disappointed. If you are looking at this book and have not read the first one, I would highly recommend reading in order so that you get the best understanding of the characters and storylines.

A great read Shoalman Immortal is the second book in the Shoalman Chronicles by Toni Decker. This book is the story of Robert Shoalman and Kyrissa Spears who were both introduced in the first book of the series, Images Eternal. While I feel that the story would make more sense if you read the first book in the series it is not absolutely necessary. Kyrissa is a young woman who possesses a great passion for painting but also possesses an amazing and horrific gift within her paintings that can be deadly. “the last time she lost control of her gift, she painted death. And somebody actually died.”Ever since Kyrissa’s mother died she has had a hard time tapping get into her true ability and gift. Robert is cursed with immortality and has lived for more than five decades watching everyone he cares for and loves die. The only way Robert can express any kind of emotion is through his paintings but the more emotionally charged the painting the stronger the demon who cursed him gets. Robert has sworn to never get close to a women again, to never love a women again, but that is all threatened when he meets Kyrissa for the first time and he can feel her gift. Robert promises to help Kyrissa unlock her passion and gift but he also wonders if she can unlock his curse. This book was enjoyable and a good follow up to the first as it answers some questions that were left unanswered from the first book. This book is full of passion, love, pain, and action. The story was well written and the story flowed well. The book is written in third person through both Robert’s and Kyrissa’s points of view. I give this book 4 stars.

Shoalman Immortal by Toni Decker is book 2 in the Shoalman Chronicles and I am giving this book five stars. There are not enough words or phrases to escribe how amazing this second book was in this series, the author has truly outdone themselves. Its really cool how in the first book I being the reader got to know the characters Lucien and Mandy. In this book though we get to learn about Robert Shoalman more and Kyrissa Spears Mandy's long time friend and roommate. The detail that went in to these characters was amazing considering that both are artists. Both Robert and Kyrissa in my opinion seem like tormented artists that have been through so much before they met each other. A question that pondered in my mind while reading this i wondered how did the writer get in to the mind set to deal with such characters. I dont mean deal, but I wondered how the process was to beautifully describe such tortured souls who went from a student teacher relationship and blossom in to something so beautiful and powerful to over come huge obstacles. A scene that I did enjoy out of the book was towards the end, not trying to give away the plot here but Robert does end up in a battle with a representation of darkness that has transended through his life . During this time he warns Kyrissa to stay away but as someone who is as loyal and stubborn as she is goes after the man she loves to let him know that they are both in the fight of their lives together. Love trumps over evil in the end to protect the ones we care about.

Shoalman Immortal by Toni Decker is a four star book. This book is the second installment in the Shoalman Chronicles. Although this is a decent standalone book, it flows better if you have read the first book. Toni Decker has a great way bringing us into this world she had created. Robert Shoalman is an immortal. He continues his life with mortal guardians that help keep him safe from his curse that is following him around. Being immortal has been difficult for Robert. Everyone he loves leaves his life too soon. For them, it is a normal life cycle, but for him, it is just a small portion of his life. He vows to never fall in love again and keep others at a distance. He can't continue to lose everyone he loves and stay sane. Robert is a fantastic painter. People from all over want to see his work and come to his shows. His paintings have so much feeling in them that people have big reactions to them. The biggest reaction he has ever seen comes from Kyrissa. She is at a music and art show with her roommate. She goes to look at the art collection while her friend waits for the music to start. She is moved beyond measure. As a painter, she knows she has only ever painted one image where it has had this much feeling inside of it. In that one image, she feels that she killed someone. This is why she has a block to creating more images like it. Robert wants to help her break through her block and teach her how to paint how he does. Will she be able to handle it again?

This is book two in the series. You should definitely read book one. It starts the series and gives you information to start the books which I feelIs important. Robert Shoalman is a famous painter whose work is known worldwide. He is actually introduced in the first book as Luciens employer and later we find out that Lucien is his guardian. Kyrissa is also introduced in book one. Mandy is her guardian. There is a lot of mystery and questions that get answered in this book. Robert also has Mama T as a guardian and she is Luciens grandmother. She is my favorite. I would love to have a grandma like her! Always cooking and being nosy lol! Anyway there are sparks between Kyrissa and Robert and Robert is surprised to learn that Kyrissa is a talented painter as well. He agrees to work with her and help her reach her true potential. She has a terrible block that has basically affected her since her mothers tragic death in a car accident. Anyway there is a lot of dancing around feelings and denial that goes on for a good portion of the book. Once they finally start acting on their feelings things move fast. As always there is a big bad that is meant to destroy them and tear them apart. Not to cause spoilers I won't tell you how it ends. I felt like the book was well written and easy to follow. Parts were slower then others but the ending made up for it. The details were amazing with all the knowledge of paints and colors. I would rate 4 stars.

This is the sequel to Images Eternal and it was just as amazing. It makes you look deep down to the deepest part of your soul and ask yourself the tough question, how much would you give of yourself for someone else. What are you willing to sacrifice for those you love? I was deeply moved by the heartbreak in this story and inspired by the resolve of Kyrissa and Robert. To try to protect those that are supposed to protect you is human nature and it was perfectly displayed here in this beautiful story. We first met Kyrissa, the art student and Robert, the master artist in the first story. They are protected by Mandy and Lucien and they also each have a secret. When fate brings them together through mutual love of painting, hope blooms that maybe they aren’t as doomed as they thought. Together they must fight to save themselves from a disaster that could just destroy them. This book to me centered on the whole not just the parts moving about. The family was more involved and that led to a well-rounded story that made me laugh and then cry. I could imagine sitting around the table with this very close group of people and I know that I would be accepted. Mama T was the clincher, she made this story not just about the hardships, but more about how to overcome them, not by yourself of course but with those who love you standing right behind you. It was a welcome change to the fantasy world and I look forward to reading more from these authors.

The Shoalman Immortal is book 2 in The Shoalman Chronicles and Toni Decker has done it again.. This book is about Robert Shoalman the creator of the Shoalman art collection which is more than the beautiful art that you think it is. Robert has a curse that has hurt more people than he can count. His talent lies in trapping feelings and emotions within the paintings that he creates. He is tired of watching the ones around his die of natural or unnatural causes and takes each one of the deaths personal. He is all set to end his immortal life once and for all, when all of a sudden he meets the amazing woman named Kyrissa. Kyrissa is also the roommate of Mandy, who we met in book 1. Kyrissa, is the first person in forever that understands exactly how Roberts paintings work. She knows because she has the same talent/curse. She wants Roberts for himself and he is determined to push her away so that she will not be hurt. Their story comes down to who can be more stubborn. With a timeline that could start or end this relationship, who will come out ahead? One click now to find out!If you like the paranormal mixed in with an amazing love story, this is the book for you. I was excited to read this book because I couldn’t wait to learn more about Robert. He has so many layers that was an absolute treat to read. I am looking forward to all future books in this series.

4 Stars Shoalman Immortal Toni DeckerMandy and Lucien are still madly in love, Lucien is guardian to Robert who is immortal. We then learn Mandy is also a guardian to Kyrissa a painter and Mandy's best friend. She also seems to have a gift but the last time she painted with it someone died. Kyrissa sees roberts paintings and can feel the energy and emotions pouring from them, and Robert can sense her gift trapped inside her. He is bound and determined to teach her how to use her gift, and how to be a proper painter with home made paint, canvases and brushes but Kyrissa's carpentry skills are a bit lacking. Robert also has another mission stop the demon that has been stalking and controlling him, and ridding himself of his immortality. Kyrissa is bound and determined to help him too whether he likes it or not. This book picks up right after the first book in the series so you dont feel as though you are missing a huge chunk of story. It also still flows just as smoothly as the first book did. The attraction between the characters jumps right off the pages and makes you want to yell just kiss each other already. It draws you in and keeps you engrossed and still wanting more, where with some sequels the second book is the hardest to get to because its packed with too much back story. Thankfully with this book it is not the case.
