Still enjoying the ride! Saga #4 took some time to get up to speed. Not something I felt in earlier installments, but I wasn't about to put this adventure down. By the end, I was looking forward to #5. Even if this wasn't my favorite volume, this is a compelling series.

It's sometimes hard to write a book review for each graphic novel in a series. Then again, sometimes it's also hard to write a review for later entries in a series of novels - you end up feeling like you aren't saying anything new, because the books aren't offering anything that new. This is not necessarily a bad thing - they might be great - but I run out of things to say.Note: The rest of this review has been withdrawn due to the changes in Goodreads policy and enforcement. You can read why I came to this decision here.In the meantime, you can read the entire review at Smorgasbook

The story continues, with the little family (view spoiler)[including the newest ghostly addition (hide spoiler)] trying to survive and find a way out of the planet, while the freelancer named The Will roams a weird place full of creepy creatures. The artwork is in turns beautiful and disturbing, but either way it brings the story across loud and clear.Looking forward to the next one!

lol this one's kind of pointlessly gratuitous, but I'm still enjoying the alana/marko feelings.

Check out my blog Reads By Amanda for more book reviews! As I continue my exploration and growing love for the comic book/graphic novel genre, I picked up a graphic novel that's been on my tbr pile for a while, Saga, Volume 1 by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Fiona Staples.Saga was absolutely amazing. I discovered Brian K. Vaughan through the Runaways series, which is one of my favorite comics and Saga doesn't disappoint. The illustration and just imagination and creativity of the story and the universe that was created is magical and you gotta love when you can just feel the writer and artist having fun and truly enjoy bringing a story to life.Alana and Marko are two star-crossed lovers trying to survive during a war where everyone from all sides of the galaxy wants them killed with their daughter, Hazel, who occasionally narrates the story. It's a loose narration since there's other storylines going on outside of Alana and Marko but Hazel provides past tense snippets and thoughts to the story. The illustration is absolutely beautiful. There's so much detail with the characters and the landscape shots as well which is something that tends to get lost in comics with blank faces and blurry lines and Staples has this ethereal, almost glossy aspect to her work which is breathtaking to look like.Go check this out! It's a lot of fun and just solid art and storytelling. What more do you want?Have you read Saga? What are your thoughts?Check out my review for the other installments in the series here.*Disclosure: the review above contains affiliate links. Find out more here. Thanks for reading!

Often with work and or quality time with my fiance... I often forget to review things I've read in a timely manner. But here we go. :)Saga #4.Sextillion. Sextillion. Sextillion. Oh dear. What a perfect way to start off a chapter. Female creatures with just heads upon legs? Couldn't get kinkier in my opinion. I loved that Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples were not afraid to explore such a world. I just loved it to bits. But it gets better. A little girl saved from child prostitution? Well. Almost. I'm sure we'll see the full heroics of that in the future.Again... I cannot wait to read #5. Surely there will be more Marko / Alana action.

I have to say, that space brothel named Sextillion has some weird sh*t going on to go on business like that. Bloody dodgy yet I'm kinda convinced. *wink wink*So, the Gwendolyn mystery has been cleared out and my way of complimenting this chapter is, it ends with style. I like it! I'm in awe. Chapter 5 up next!Ratings: 5 out of 5 starsMy Blogspot Review

This was certainly the most graphic issue of the lot I've read so far. Slightly shocking but I'm adapting; this is still pretty new to me. Everything also happens so fast, I pity those who came accross this comic in it's beginning stages who had to endure the wait between issues. It does sometime leave something to be desired but I'll let it slide for now because even though it feels quite rushed, the plot still provides much intrigue.

this moves along well with some surprises along the way including an event which is a comment on our current attitude to the developing world. conflict between the heroic couple at the centre might mean the story is going on for a longer time than anticipated...

I think the wait I had to endure for this volume correlated with the time that passed during the story. It was parallel.I am too tired to complain about anything. It's been a long day and long wait for this volume, so I don't want to ruin the series by forcing myself to think.

Can I be the first to say that this issue is incredibly tasteful and well-executed? The Will's character really strengthened with this issue.

The graphic content is strong in this one. I was shocked. It was really unnecessary to be honest, but with all that, it's still an interesting read.
