Learning to Let Go (Learning Series Book 2) by Cynthia O'neilAfter finishing with book one, I was able to jump right into book too. I was not able to sleep until I knew what was going to happen. Garrett and Laurel have had such turmoil in their lives and deserve happiness; with each other. They bring out the best that each have to offer. Book two starts at the very end of book one with Laurel making her way back to Garret. Trying to ward off Chase Peterson's, her stalker and rapist from college, attack once again, Laurel ends up in a coma. Garrett struggling with not being there for her when she needed him, vows to never do that again. He is not sure what to call his feeling for her, but he knows he has to have her in his like and protect her. In the second book both Laurel and Garret must let go of the past so that they can have a future together. Can he break her walls that have now been raised up again because of the attack? Will she finally break down his walls that he put up at such a young age? They go through so many ups and downs with their emotions and having to deal with the constant fear looming over them that Chase will finally get what he wants. Can they overcome these obstacles to see that they are meant for each other's happiness?

I received an ARC in return for an honest review. My reviews are my own and are in no way swayed because I have received a copy to review. I review as though I have purchased the content and whether I would be satisfied with it.I still really liked Laurel and Garrett's story as it continued in this second book.I didn't find this had such a 'page turner' air about it like the first book did, the story throughout book 2 seemed more comfortable and a gentler pace. Revolving mostly around both of them but especially Garrett coming to terms with the past and letting himself feel and take a risk. This is a big part of this book. The intimate scenes were very sexy as in book 1 and again it wasn't page after page of sexual encounters, although there did seem more in book 2. Garrett's character seemed to go into overdrive with his dominant, alpha controlling ways but also he had such a sweet sensitive side, he was contanstly throwing Laurel through a loop leaving her reeling as to what his feelings were or indeed if he had any!Chase is forever in the background, he's an enigma, constantly thwarting their attempts to find him. It was lovely to see Grace and Jonathan getting to know each other better. I'm not sure at Laurel's parents, I'm at a loss as to whether to like them or dislike like them if they could call their daughter a liar and not support her..... I felt very mixed on how I was to suppose to understand their characters.I will definitely read book 3 to see what happens next, book 2 isn't a cliffhanger per se but it leaves you wanting closure on a few things.

At the end of Learning to Trust, Laurel escapes her psycho ex, Chase, by running back upstairs to Garrett. Regardless of how hurt Laurel is emotionally, she knows Garrett will help her and stop Chase. When Laurel runs out of the elevator covered in blood, Garrett knows he will do whatever possible to save his relationship with Laurel. As Laurel recovers physically, she questions Garrett's ability to open up and trust her as much as he is asking for her trust. This book was as captivating as the first one! Laurel is sweet, honest and has an inner strength that she finds as things go from bad to worse. Garrett is sexy and commanding as always. It's nice to see him open up a bit, becoming vulnerable as he discovers how empty is life would be without Laurel. I also enjoyed seeing a bit more of Jonathan and Grace together, as well as Freddie and Donnie. Cynthia P. O'Neil makes all of her characters have such depth and personality, you want more of everyone's story, not just the main characters.

I really enjoyed the dual POV. It makes Garrett so much more sympathetic and relatable the reader. This book helped answer so many questions I had after reading the first book. In the beginning I find it odd that he can’t admit his feelings about Laurel but goes to the extreme of getting a tattoo of her. Along the way Garrett showed me he really does care about Laurel. He takes time off of work to make sure she is recovering. After the attack she has a lot of issues to work through as you would expect. She has been through a lot in the past few years and Chase was still on the loose. Garrett helps her to gradually enter the real world and even convinces her to see a therapist (which I think is a really important idea towards recovery) There are a lot of positives in this book but I have to say the twist with the Peterson’s and their involvement with Garrett’s past is a little much for me. This was a quicker read than book 1 and I find myself more invested in Garrett and Laurel’s relationship and want to see where book 3 takes them.Reviewed by Cathy

I read the first book Learning to Trust before I began my blogging adventure and I have to say I fell in love with Garrett and Laurels journey, they we both haunted by there pasts and couldn't find it in themselves to move on from what they had experienced before they met each other. In this book their journey continues and they find each other wanting to be with each other and loving one another to pulling away from each other. The second book in the series carries off where Learning to Trust finished with Laurel in the hospital, I'm not going to disclose any more just in case you haven't had the opportunity to read the first in the series. When Garrett first met Laurel she was broken and lacking confidence but her underlying strong head lied buried beneath her then she meets Garrett who helped to bring it out. Garrett was always in control with everything in his life he was troubled by his past and built up walls to protect himself. He never thought himself capable of loving will he finally let his guard down with Laurel? Will it be worth it? I love the Characters in this story they stay true to themselves although at times I wanted to shout at them and tell them what was happening right in front of them. I felt myself wanting to shout at Garrett, tell him to get a hold of himself and open up! This is a good indication of how much the storyline draws you in. I have decided that I don't like this author. At. All. (OK, not really, I love her books) Doesn't she realize that I need to sleep, go to work, feed my children...? I just couldn't put this book down once I started it. I will definitely be reading it again this week, something I rarely do. but it is just so good. First thing to know is that it is part of a series and you MUST read the first one, Learning to Trust, before you read this one. This book picks up exactly where the first one left off. Lucky for me, Kindle delivers books quickly. If you haven't read it, go get it NOW! It's amazing. I really liked Lauren in the first book, but I loved Garrett. He was so sensitive and caring. He has huge issues, I know, and we get a better understanding of some of those in this book. He has a lot to overcome, but for Lauren, he's willing to try to work through his issues. He'll do anything for Lauren (oh, to find a man that devoted, SWOON). Since this book is in dual POV, I was able to understand him better and love him even more. Both of them have to learn to let go of their past in order to have a future together. This book isn't a cliff hanger like the first one (thankfully since I have to wait for it to come out), but I am still looking forward to reading it. There are still some unanswered questions and loose ends that need tied up. I was provided a complementary copy of this book as part of a blog tour.

5 starsArc reviewI am in love with this series. The author is superb when it comes to telling laurel and garett's story. The depth of the story and how deep the actual story line is exceptionally detailed and makes just want to continual reading. The fear, love, and expectations of their journey feels so real. You want to just slap these two and tell them to wakeup and live. Other times you see how much love these two have for each other and say they can have it all, but there are u times that you just say what now, I DONT know what to do. I am so happy that their story is gonna continue with a third installment. I can't get enough of this couple. They have been through a lot and just seems they can't win. Laurel has been through the imaginable, but she is holding strong. Garrett can't get over his past, that he blames himself for. Both are broken, but being broken together seems to heal them. Once again trying to get their happily ever after is rocky and many obstacles still getting in the way. Chase is still a huge factor. Garretts past still haunts him. And they have a few surprises happening. Just read this series. Absolutely is a series that I will read over again.

I know the cliffhanger I left at the end of the first book, Learning to Trust, was bad, but I needed something to bring you back for more. I did promise I wouldn't do the cliffhanger route again and I kept my word. Garrett and Laurel are back and the story picks up right where the other left off, so it's an easy transition from one book to the next. There's a lot that Laurel will have to overcome and Garrett will do his best to help her. But, for her to open up and "let go" of the past, she'll challenge him to bring down his own walls and reveal a bit more of himself. The question is, does he care enough about her to do this? Chase is still an issue. I wish I could say how much of one, but hey, this author isn't revealing spoilers. There is a surprise twist and I purposefully added a bit of suspense to the novel to keep you guessing at which direction things are going to go. Garrett does show a softer side, while Laurel becomes more defiant, but don't worry the alpha dominant who likes to control things is still ever present, especially in the bedroom. Already working on book 3, which will be out in June 2014.

WOW!! What can even be said about this book. This is book 2 and an awesome follow up to Learning to Trust. I loved the first one but I love this one even more. I fell in love with Garrett from the get go. His dominate side and his sweet side. He has them both. He found a way to surprise me all the time. Laurel is so strong. She goes through a hard thing and still managed to come out stronger. Not only in her life but in her relationship with Garrett. This book will answer questions that you had after reading the first book but still has you wanting to know more. The things I would love to say about this book simply can't be said. If I talk about what I want to then I will have massive spoilers through this whole thing. Which really sucks.Lets just say there are ups and downs. Sad times and extremely happy times. Ohh and lets not forget the really hot, steamy, sexy times. This book was amazing and I can not wait for book 3. I need to know what happens next and if there is a happily ever after for this couple like I hope there is.

This is the second book in the Learning Series. In the first one, Learning to Trust, it leaves off right where Learning to Let Go picks up. I love all the characters and am really feeling a connection to them in this book. Laurel is a sweet young woman who has had a lot of tough things happen but she is fighting through it with the help of her cousin and Garrett. I love that Laurel's brother is brought in to the story a little more in this one. Garrett is opening up more to Laurel in this one and he is becoming more of a lovable guy. The first book he was all alpha male and closed off. In this one he lets Laurel in a little more and you learn more about his life and the hard times he has had with the deaths of the people that were close to him. Together they learn about each other, how to work together to build a loving relationship, and fight to over come things that get in their way. Most importantly they learn to deal with their pasts and move on to a better future, but will their future be together or apart? Read it to find out.

I loved the first book, except for the cliffhanger at the end, but OMG, this book ROCKS! I'm totally loving Garrett from the first book, but this time he has a higher level of intensity both in and out of the bedroom. He's your alpha dominant male, always needing to be in control, but when it comes to Laurel, he seems to have a soft side to him. You can literally feel the love between the two of them. Granted there's a lot thrown at both of them throughout this book, which come to think of it, the same thing happens in life. But, the biggest road block is that jerk Chase. I was captivated from the first page, right through to the end and definitely didn't see the surprise link to the past coming! Talk about a shocker!! Sorry, but no spoilers from me. Thankfully, no cliffhanger, but I'm anxious to see how their lives continue to play out. Love this couple and can't wait for book 3! Highly recommended!

This was a great sequel to book 1(Learning to Trust) and I am so glad to have been able to read book 2 right after because book 1 had a killer cliffhanger. Learning to Let Go has a fantastic ending that you will not be so frustrated with. The attack as suspected would have set anyone back for quite a while but Laurel is strong and Garret is there to love and protect her and will go to any lengths to have her safe and happy. Not only did Laurel learn to let go but also in many ways Garret has learned to as well. I don't want to say much more and spoil anything. Just know that you have to read this series. The author has created another magnificent, heart gripping and suspense filled book with a strong, sexy and in depth set of characters. I am very much anticipating book 3.ARC received from the Author in exchange for an honest review.

I did not enjoy this one like I did the first book. Actually I was a bit bored. The way the H and h behaved was annoying. The h completely shut down and the H became distant. We didn't see much of the all consuming possessiveness and obsessiveness that I had come to expect from the H. There was a scene where the h tells the H she will never leave him and then in the same conversation gets angry and says she is leaving him. WTF? I thought the h's actions at the end were beyond stupid and it really diminished my opinion of her. There was less steam in this book as well which was a let down bc the first book was hot. I think Chase at this point is some kind of super villain to escape over and over again despite the H's resources. I will definitely read the last book bc I want this couple to get their HEA.

OMG! Suspense, drama, sex, hot alpha, should I go on? This book is great. Better than the first! Picks up right where we left off and boy oh boy was I glad after that ciff hanger!I just adore Laurel. Sh is an amazing character. She is beautifully written and easy to connect to. This book is all about working out the issues with Garrett and Laurel with a creepy stalker to add danger to the mix. I loved the plot. It kept me guessing and on my toes. This was impossible to put down and I am officially hooked! If you haven't read this series you are missing out. So many great characters and a well written story to die for. This keeps getting better, so I cannot wait to read on!!!

A great sequel to book 1! I was very glad after finishing book 1 that I was able to jump right into book 2, because I was dying to know what happens. This book picks right up where book 1 ended and we find ourselves with Garret and Laurel finally back together, but they still have a lot of trials left to go through. The book was definitely a page turner and kept you guessing. It was an enjoyable journey through plot twists and turns. The characters are well written and the story line was enjoyably filled with a HOT alpha male and a crazy stalker!~Lauren~

Garrett Andrews was content in his career. He was used to controlling everything and everyone around him. He didn't spend much time getting to know others because he has lost so much and he just decided it wasn't worth caring too much anymore. This all changes when he comes to MIT to observe Laurel Hunt to see if she would be a good candidate for the company he recruits for. Laurel is attracted to Garrett before she even realized who he is. His blue eyes captivate her and she is mesmerized by him. She can't believe it when she finds out he is the one interviewing her for her dream job in Florida. However, because of a past tragic event, she plays her cards close to her vest and just can't allow Garrett to get too close. Her heart seems to have other plans though....Although both characters suffer from extreme hardships in their past, the way the story brings them together is just so sweet, and tender. It is just obvious to the reader that they were meant to be. I for one, loved falling in love with them and following their journey through out the three books. I am excited I got to read all three novels as I don't think this is the type of series you can skip books in. To truly understand Garrett and Laurel, you must follow their entire journey. Each additional novel in this series finished with a great cliffhanger that made it impossible for me to be able to put these stories down. I loved how fast paced and nail biting all these books were. It made them go by fast and make me excited for the next one. The author also introduced new family members for Garrett and Laurel through out the books and did a great job at weaving them into the story. As for the romance side of things? Let's just say the words practically sizzled off the page in some parts. Wow! This author knows how to get a girls blood flowing.... This book would be a great addition to any readers shelves. I strongly suggest you make them part of your immediate to read pile.

Garret is devastated and sware he will never let Laurel out of his sight again. Book 2 directly follows on from book 1 and continue the lovers journey. Laurel and Garret are back together but instead of moving forward Laurel is slowly retreating into herself. This is killing Garret because he is watching her fall apart.Together they learn to Let Go both start to face their fears and try and out smart Laurel Stalker and Garret nemesis from the past, Together they learn more about each other and Garret final starts to open up to Laurel. They realise only together can they truely be one an concur their demons. They are soulmates and they love each other deeply. In book 2 you still hold on tight as you travel through the dramas they experience , but there are some suprise installed that will make you happy and dramas where you'll be left with yourself saying here we go again.I gave this book 5 stars. It is abit shorter than the first but just or even more gripping than the first.

Still a great storyThis is the second book in this trilogy. This book was really good too. Well written and edited. Rooting for both main characters and love both of them. Garrett is complex but totally in love with Laurel and she is mature and totally in love with him but a feisty little thing that refuses to let him walk all over her. Can't wait to begin book three.
