Young children will love to recognize the beginning letter sounds and will definitely figure out the words with picture clues. Now this is too easy for my 6 year old but the younger grandchildren like to read from left to right and they especially enjoy the sentence patterns, "_ lives on a farm." The book is a winner with kids, talking about animals and food. The illustrations are so lovely and the book is nice for little ones. I just wish there was more to the story plot for the older ones.

Basic Premise: Stuff on a farm. This is a VERY beginning reader for small children just beginning to identify words. There is no story, just pretty much a list of stuff that can be found on a farm. It's put together well, with animals, food, and general stuff in different parts of the book (almost like chapters). The artwork includes some photos and some paintings that are nearly photo-real. I downloaded it for free on my Nook, and that version includes a "read to me" option that my son likes a lot. The reader even does animal sounds when going through the animals, so my little guy likes that. He keeps requesting it, so I'd say it's worth a look.Very worth the download.

E was able to read this book mostly by herself at four years old! This book has a lot of repetition and the pictures are simple enough to help her read the words she doesn't know. The white space and large font makes it easier to see the words. As a beginner reader book I really like this one (and the others in the series) because the book really is written in a way to help the child feel successful with reading.

The local public library has a copy of this simple book called On the Farm. I have borrowed it to use with my English Second Language preschool children as we go through it to give them the English vocabulary for farm animals. This simple book has good pictures that accurately show the animals. It is very helpful to bring more simple English vocabulary words into the classroom. We make a game of naming the animals as we go through the book together to make it fun for the children.

Simple little farm book for toddlers. On the farm book has great illustrations and short sentences perfect for a small toddler. It discusses animals, food, and other things that you can find on a farm. I recommend this book to parents of small toddlers that would be more interested in pictures rather than an actual story.
