I am in shock that this is Amber Nation's debut. What an awesome job she did in writing this masterpiece. I loved it!!! I would say for sure this is a must read. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer. It just seemed to be too short. I can't wait for her next book which I understand is going to be longer. Amber Nation is one to put on your radar.

2.5 STARSThis sounded so good on paper. It turned out to be very OK. Emmy is a single mom who had married her highschool sweetheart only to be disillusioned 3 years into their union. They had a son together, Tucker, and when he turned 2, things got bad for Emmy. Enduring years of mental and psychological abuse, a tragedy strikes and changes her life forever. It's now been 5 years since her life took a different course and she's in a happy place. Her son is now 9, and she owns a bookstore where not only can you buy books but indulge in one of her sweet treats. So things are good. But Emmy is lonely. She has great friends and a stable life but something is missing. And while she is doing well, she still carries insecurities about her weight and scars. Things get shaken up when Grady comes into town to help his uncle Mac run his bar. Mac is retiring soon and handing the reins over to Grady, a retired special forces man. When Grady sees Emmy his world stops and he doesn't give up till he gets her. He helps her see she's special and loves her curves. He cherishes her but his past catches up with him and threatens to destroy everything all over again for Emmy. Okay, so the story was sweet, but it lacked something for me. I found it inconsistent and choppy at times. The words should flow but they didn't. Emmy is described as insecure and I did see that, but she would do things contrary to her insecurities. And for someone scared to let anyone in and deny any sort of romantic involvement, she sure jumped right in with Grady. I expected her to take longer in submitting, but it was literally right away...again, inconsistent. The truth is, she got on my nerves. Grady was a decent guy, really thoughtful and caring. He often went out of his way to show how he cared for Emmy. He had secrets, but the reasons for him hiding them were murky. Honestly, it wasn't a big deal. I couldn't get why he made it one. And then when the shit hit the fan, his mothers advice was so ludicrous, I almost threw my iPad. What's the best remedy for hurting someone? (view spoiler)[ignore them and make them come to you (hide spoiler)]Seriously GREAT ADVICE MOM. NOT. The secondary characters were okay and we had the token gay best friend, making this almost formulaic. There was an element of suspense in the story and a plot twist that seemed unnecessary(view spoiler)[Emmy had a stalker (hide spoiler)], but otherwise this was a miss for me. We at least got an epilogue that was very sweet, but by then it was too late. Anyways, this has gotten some great reviews, so if you've added it I encourage you to read it, different strokes and all that jazz.

3.5 You're Beautiful Stars!!This was a freebie on Amazon. The blurb sounded interesting so I picked it up. The story easily and it was a fun, sexy read with some great steam. I loved Grady and Emmy was a strong single mom. I didn't like all the OTT cheesiness!!

I just finished Not Alone and just absolutely LOVED IT. Grady and Emmy are so cute together and was glad that they get their happy ending! At the beginning of the book, Emmalynne is in an unhappy marriage. Bryce is a complete douche and is very verbally abusive and she at this point is done with it all when they are in a tragic accident and Bryce dies. Fast forward 5 years later and she owns her own bookstore "Turn the Page". She is doing good in her life and doesn't plan on changing anything. Here walks in Grady. He was in special forces and had gotten shot and left the army and now helps run his uncles bar. He wasn't looking for anything either but that is when you least expect it. You meet the one that you are supposed to be with. I really thought this would be cheesy but damn, it was awesome and it was HOT!Grady, damn, I don't even know what to say. Sexy, smart, hell man in a uniform. Cannot go wrong with that.Emmy, very sweet, loyal, always worries about others before herself. She is a little over weight and is very self conscious about that (Bryce's doing) so she doesn't think that Grady would want her. Boy was she EVER wrong. Grady not only wants her but also understands that with having a kid (Tucker) its hard for her to let her walls down but does give it his all to do it! The chemistry is undeniable between them. Like a match to flame, it just combusts and you just cannot help but watch and be awed by them. It was such a pleasure to read their story.SEX! Very sexy and smokin!!!! You will LOVE every bit of it.I also loved the secondary characters. Tucker, Tess, Brock, Toby, Charlie and her dad. You just cannot help but love them too. There was a lot of characters but it flowed really well, you knew who was which. They all had different personalities and it tied well with the story.I also loved that it was in Emmy and Gradys POV. Like I always say, it helps me when it is like this because you get to see how each other felt and why things were done the way they were done. Awesome job! There is also a creepy part to it. Wont go into detail with it but once you read it you will understand. I think some authors tend to throw stuff in a story to make it worth our while when all they do is make it worse and it confuses us. Not the case here. It was handled very well and it had to be put in for it to be completed right.I just really enjoyed this story, you have to get this one. You will not be disappointed.Story 5Sex 5Overall 5+++++Reviewed by Beggin from Mommys a Book Whore (MaBW)

"Safety Gang" Safe book with exception (view spoiler)[hero is stalked by his ex girlfriend that dumped him whilst he was in military. After that she begun stalking him and showed up to see him and throw herself at him and kissed him! Hero repeatedly told her to get lost, but when she kissed him his reaction was: “Don’t you EVER talk about Emmalynne like that again. She is three times the person you will ever be. I love her, and FYI, in case you’ve forgotten, you dumped me months ago through a fucking Dear John letter, no less.” Getting in her face I continued, “If you don’t leave and make yourself scarce, I’m going to be forced to call the Sheriff, and they don’t take too kindly to stalkers.“Okay Grady, I’ll be leaving now, but can I just have a hug first, as closure, as a last goodbye?” Knowing this wasn’t such a good idea, but I didn’t see her relenting, I nodded my head and enveloped her in a hug. What was meant to last a few seconds seemed like hours because she wouldn’t let go. “Let go,” I growled in her ear. Finally she released her hold on me, as she stepped back, smirking at something over my shoulder. "I tried to turn around to see what she was smirking at when she threw herself at me and pressed her lips against mine. I would admit, for a split second I had a positive reaction until it quickly turned negative. Forcing her off of me, I growled, “What the fuck are you doing?” That's all it was with the OW theme, the ex even showed up again and apologized for instigating the whole scene and cleared the "doubts" of hero kissing her when he actually did no kissed her! I had to reduced 2 stars because of it, but I kind of still liked the book despite the WTF? moment...I appreciated some of the aspects that were being explored at: e.g: single mother, father alcoholic struggle with self esteem, insecurities...I looked beyond that "OW moment" and noticed many positive things that out-shined the bad! I only do that to some books that offer "another value" to the book and this book was one of them. (hide spoiler)]This book portrays a single mum heroine that is one of my favorite tropes, so I jumped to this book with a smile on my face! The plot is very simple, but at the same time uplifting! The more i read about both protagonist the more heartwarming feelings a got in return! This is one of the stories that will melt your heart and leave you feeling positive that "a second chances are possible" if with the right people.Enters heroine...Emmalynne is a very sweet brave woman with some nice curves and lovely reed curls...She was left rising her son on her own after terrible accident that killed her husband and scared her leg leaving her with a limp on the scared leg. She was very unsecured of herself and unassuming of her beauty which made her character "real to me" Not often that I read imperfect heroine, on the contrary, most heroines are too perfect, to beautiful and one dimensional, so it was very easy to relate to her fears and self-doubts that was more believable to me than flawless/superficial heroine.Enters Hero... Grady is a sexy, charming Ex military that was discharged form his duties due to his injury and wanted to start fresh, so when opportunity arose to take over his uncle pub he did not hesitated, but what he did not anticipated was the sweet redhead with the body to kill and a weakness for baking that would turn his life up side down but in a good way! Hell! for the very first moment Grady look at Emmylanne he was completely mesmerized! At that very moment he decided that she was going to be his! Love that "Hero" I just love a man that goes after what he wants and don't hesitate to stake his claim! He did not mind that heroine had a son and was very protective and caring of them...HA! he only seen her one day and after finding out about her past, meaning her horrible husband he was so angry for even thinking that someone could hurt her, he had to leave the bar to calm down! Hmmm I was dreaming there with the heroine to have him for myself haha!If you like your romance to be the "main focus" of the book and not too heavy on the plot then this book is for you! For me, I was left enchanted with a nice warm feeling of joy and left with a big smile on my face!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Well, HELLO Amber Nation! What a beautiful and endearing debut novel. I loved the fact that the H and h were imperfect people with some physical and emotional baggage going on, yet they found one another! The road was not easy for either of them - can I say one thing? I hate "C"!!!!! Tucker was very endearing and I loved how he looked out for Emmalynne for just being a 9 year-old, he was her little man.Emmalynne had gone through some tragic stuff in the prologue, and as the book starts, she is dealing with her life in a positive and constructive way. But, through years of being psychologically abused, she still finds a lot of self-doubt going on. In walks Grady and what he sees in Emmalynne is perfection! He doesn't want to change a single thing about her.Of course there are roadblocks to their happiness; misunderstandings, criminal behavior - I won't spoil it but the story grabbed me from the first page and I found myself feeling as if I were there - with the characters - observing it firsthand.Good job, Amber!

I had the pleasure of reading Not Alone. I must say its an amazing story. Emmalynne dating her high school sweetheart, who turns out to be a absolute nightmare. Then we meet Grady, who's fresh out the military. Talk about hot! Plus you'll get to meet Tessa and Toby. I swear they kept me laughing. I was seriously happy she had such amazing friends to be there for her. This book will have you feeling all sort of emotions. It was such a pleasure reading this book! I look forward to reading more books from this very talented author!

~Joni's Review~I was hooked from the prologue and loved every single word!! I love it when I have a book that puts a smile on your face, makes you say aww, makes you tear up, as well as makes you wanna smack some people along the way. That is what it’s all about.Emmalynne married her highschool sweetheart, Bryce, who turned into an emotionally abusive person and pretty much absent parent to Tucker. After tragedy struck Emmy is left widowed. (No love loss and I just had the prologue to read about him)Five years later Emmy had built her life again and for her and her nine year old son. She is the proud owner of a bookstore where she is known around town as the best baker. She has a great support system and a few tricks up her sleeve.Grady moves to town after he was injured in the military to help his uncle run his bar and there is where he sees Emmy for the first time and he falls ass over feet almost instantly. Emmy wasn’t into the dating scene, she felt that once was enough, but when friends intervene and take the choice away from her she finds herself on her first date in many years. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. There was a jealous guy who would stop at nothing to prove to Emmy that she was his. As well as a jealous woman who wanted Grady back and couldn’t stand that he had found someone new. Can they survive all that life throws at them or are they destined to love this life alone?I really enjoyed this book. I loved Emmy & Grady as well as the side characters. Tucker touched my heart big time and I smiled through tears a few times with this young man. I cannot wait to see what Amber Nation brings us next. She definitely has a new fan in me!!I give Not Alone 5 Heartwarming Stars!!!

I loved this book, there were ups and downs and for the most part it actually felt as if it was taken from a real life situation. Grady and Emmalynne's inner monologues were adorable, its how people really think and freak out about stuff, I loved it.The attraction between Emmy and Grady is instant, its sweet and almost innocent in a way, I love that this book is written from more than one point of view, you don't just have Emmalynne or Grady's view you have both and even some of their friends, but for the most part it is Emmy and Grady telling their story. Grady is sweet, kind, caring and loving and like every man he makes his mistakes and doesn't communicate his feelings very well. Emmy has been through a lot in her life and has managed to be strong for her son Tucker, to her its always felt like just the two of them with friends and family on the outside, so to her meeting Grady and having him like her back is new and out of the ordinary and it takes her some time and a pep talk or two to accept that this man thinks she's beautiful and worthy. Overall its a sweet story that when you read it you could see it happening to you which is what I love about it, i'm all for the fantasy of these billionaires and CEO's but Grady is better as he's just a regular guy that wants to give this woman everything he can, I think its amazingly sweet and very well written. The only thing I have to say about the editing is that a few times Brock (one of the friends) is referred to as Dereck, that confused me to no end, but that is the only thing that bothered me about this book. I give it 5 stars I loved it!

I can't even express how much I loved this book! Emmalynne is quirky and sweet, but emotionally damaged thanks to her ex husband. Grady is ex military and somewhat of a ladies man. I mean, seriously...who doesn't love a man in uniform?!The banter between Emmy and her friends, Tessa and Toby, made me chuckle because it reminds me of my own friends! ;)With everything in Emmalynne's past, of course she would struggle with a new relationship. Grady has some things from his past that also come back to bite him. The end of the book had me in tears. So worth reading! I have heard some of what Amber is coming up with next...and I am not so patiently anticipating her next book!

4 1/2 STAR THOUGHTSI love reading and discovering new authors, especially when the story is AWESOME! Amber Nation wrote this story beautifully, and I can't wait for more from her in the future! Not Alone brings out so many emotions because although there is a HEA, it is a bumpy ride getting there. Every time I thought things might work out one way, something else happened and I wanted to scream for them! She will also have you laughing at the hilarious banter between friends and hoping you will have a son who loves you that much someday! Amazing Debut! In Not Alone you will meet Emmalynne Morgan! Emmy thought that her life was going to be perfect. She married her High School sweetheart and started a family. She had everything she always wanted, but things began to change. Her husband became emotionally abusive and tried to control everything Emmy did. She thought she was doing the right thing by staying with him like she vowed. But just as she figured out she had to leave…a tragic accident occurred. Now it's five years later and Emmy is still broken on the outside and the inside. She is lacking in confidence from years of emotional abuse and hates the scars that are left from the accident. Emmy is now a single mother to her son, Tucker. He is an amazing little boy and so proud and protective of his mother! I adored their relationship…especially the "Lego" incidents because I can completely relate! Taking care of Tucker and owning a bookstore doesn't leave her much time for a social life. But with a little push from her best friends, Tessa and Toby, she decides to take a chance on the new gorgeous man in town!"Sometimes when you met someone you just knew that they were the one. I would bet all the riches in the world that she was my one."Grady Finnegan moved to town to help his Uncle run the family bar. He was recently injured and has been discharged from the Army, and he is one SEXY SOLDIER! Grady is no where near innocent and has NEVER wanted to settle down with any woman. But the moment he locked eyes with Emmy, he knew he had to have her! The sexual chemistry between them is explosive! I loved how sweet he was with her! Grady tried to help her see how beautiful she was both inside and out! I especially love that he could cook…yummy!!! He was always respectful of her and that made me love him even more!"If you keep letting out those agonizingly sexy groans every time you take a bite, I'm going to rush you back to your house and fuck you senseless. And I know you aren't ready for that…yet…"I don't want to give too much away, because some things that happened… I definitely didn't see coming! OMG how can so many bad things happen to one person? Will their passion be enough? Can Emmy let her guard down and learn to love again? What will happen when Grady's past comes back to haunt him and it leaves Emmy's heart shattered? Can Emmy ever have the future she deserves? Will Grady be able to show her she is not alone anymore? There were times I was dying laughing, scared, crying, heart broken, smiling, and just completely and blissfully in love! I loved all the extra characters and felt that each and every one played a huge part in the book! Especially Tucker's relationship with his Mom and Grady! Amazingly written! Beautiful story! And I LOVED THE EPILOGUE! Don't pass this book up! I will definitely be watching for more from Amber Nation!!!

I was given this book as an ARC for an honest reviewI gave this book 5 stars. This is the first book that I have read from this Author. This is Grady & Emmalynn's story.Emamalynn is a beautiful curvy woman who thinks she is worthless and fat, all because she married her High School sweetheart and after a couple years of marriage he became verbally abusive and told her all the time how she was a fat cow. She has no self esteem and cannot fathom how anyone could want her. After a very horrible car accident which leaves her hurt and her husband dead, she sets out to raise their son single and alone.Grady is a man who goes after what he wants, he is ex military, only because he was hurt in combat. So he has set his eyes on doing something that does not require him to be so physical. He works at a bar with his Uncle and is learning everything he can so he can take over the business for him when he retires. Grady meets Emma and is instantly attracted to her and thinks that she is the most beautiful woman that he has ever laid eyes on. He sets off to woo her, but that is a hard thing to do with Emma's self esteem issues. With a horrible ex lurking in the back ground. It doesn't make it easy on him. and after all they are going through will they be able to make a life together or will all of their life difficulties get in the way?I loved this book the Author made it seem so real, and I was caught up in the story right away. I loved Emma and understood where she was coming from, someone who is belittled most of her married life is going to have major issues and doubts. But Grady is sweet and understanding and lets her know all the time how beautiful she is. He was a breath of fresh air. And yes they came across problems, and assumptions were made but again with all she has gone through you know why she did. All in all this is a well written beautiful story. I recommend to any one who wants a sweet book, it did end rather fast and could have been just a little bit longer. But it was still an amazing book.. Thank you for sharing this with us Amber. I look forward to reading more from you in the future. :)

First I must say.... what took me so long to read this book? It was BEAUTIFUL! Both characters were so likable and lovable. Both with some emotional baggage. Both needing to be "Not Alone".I met the author via FB and my Blog and can't apologize to her enough for taking so long to read this book! I truly felt like I was Emmalynne. Like I was sucked into the book and that was me. She was REAL! I loved the fact that the author (Amber) made this character not our size 0 whiny ass spoiled brat I need a rich man character. Don't get me wrong, I love those too. This time though, Emmalynne was just like any average not a size 0, mother trying to make a living to support her child. And she wrote her character beautifully! Then we have Grady.... Mr. Hotness.... walking sex on a stick! Ex Military. He takes one look at Emmalynne and finds her to be the most beautiful and perfect woman he's ever seen. He wants to change nothing about her. He shows her that she is worthy of finding love and her HEA.Takes her a bit to open up to him and let him into her life. She doesn't feel like she is worthy of his love. They have a few ups and downs during their relationship.....and the end it's worth it. There are plenty of moments that make you smile and make you laugh. She has great supportive friends. Amber touches on so many things in this story that are true life stuff. And that is why I fell in love with this story. She took things that some wouldn't want to write about and she did. Making her characters believable and true to everyday life is what I loved about this story. This is not your wham bam thank you mam kind of love story..... I can't say it enough that this is just a beautiful and sweet love story....two souls that are damaged....finding their way to each other.....dealing with real life stuff and issues....and in the end.....being "Not Alone" .Go one click this book right now. See why I fell in love with them. See why I love the author.

Emmalynn is an amazing woman who had her heart broken by her abusive husband, Bryce, before he died in a car accident. Since his death she has devoted her life to her bookshop, baking, and raising her son, Tucker. She has kept her heart hidden and has not let any man get close to her because she cannot stand the pain of having her heart broken again. Grady is a hot as hell ex-special forces agent who is new to town. He came to town to take over his uncle’s bar and is not really looking for a woman, that is until he sees Emmalynn. The moment he lays eyes on her Grady knows that there is something special about Emmalynn, and he is determined to be the one to show her that she deserves to be loved. Throw in Tessa (Emmalynn’s best friend), Toby(her former brother-in-law who has an amazing fashion sense and a great sense of humor), a creepy stalker who thinks Emmalynn belongs to him and a crazy ass ex-girlfriend who wants Grady back and this is one amazing read. Amber Nation has an amazing debut novel with this one! I cannot wait to read more books by her. She wrote a wonderful story that kept me captivated from the very first page. The characters were so real and believable. Emmalynn is sweet and loved by the entire town. Grady is hot as hell, but he is still a normal down to earth kind of guy. The storyline was intriguing and I was cheering for Emmalynn and Grady from the start. I am really hoping that Amber Nation decides to turn this book into part of a series. I would love to read more about the secondary characters who played a part in this book. I give this book 5 stars, job well done Amber Nation!!!!!

Emmalynne doesnt think that she is pretty. She is well liked by everyone is the community. She helps anyone and everyone without so much as a second glance. I love her character. She is hardworking and puts her son first. I hate that she is self conscious and the reason for her being like that. I love that her name is very different from what you would normally see.Grady. My, my, my Grady. Seriously he is total swoon worthy!! He is dedicated and hard working. He is slightly on the possessive side but not in a bad way. His demanding mouth is a good thing. Would love to see him in his uniform. Hehehe. He has a kind, craing and gentle side. Tell me where I can find him please! As a debut novel, I was thrilled to read this! From the very first page I was drawn it! A total win for me!! I loved the story, the characters and everything from beginning to end!! One part of the book took me by surprise and I asked myself, “Oh my god, did that just happen?” and yes of course it did! Loved how close knit all th characters involved in the story were. Tess and Toby, Emmalynne’s best friends, seriously cracked me up! I loved them!! The guys of the band were funny too! Charlie on the other hand gave me a mysterious feeling but in a good way. I think the author did a fantastic job on this novel!! Looking forward to her future work!!

I absolutely fell in love with this book. Amber did a great job with both the characters and the story. This is Amber debut novel and I am really hoping she does more, and soon. :)Emmalynn was in a horrible marriage and wanted out when one night driving home and dealing with her verbally abusive husband her car was in an accident and her husband didn't make it... fast forward 5 years and Emmalynn is a great mom to a 9 year old boy Tucker, a great bookstore/bakery and a wonderful person. She really isn't looking for love but just living her life. She spends her time with her best friend Tessa and former-brother-in-law Toby (who has great fashion sense). One night she meets Grady and her views change a little.Grady is a hot ex-special forces agent who is new in town to help his uncle with taking over a bar. He sees Emmalynn and immediately needs to get to know her. He wants to show her how to be loved and that she is beautiful even though Emmalynn doesn't believe that she is.I couldn't put this book down. I just fell in love! Can't wait for more from Amber.

When looking at a contemporary romance novel like “Not Alone,” I’m usually looking for a few things – relatable characters, captivating storyline, perfect blend of emotions and of course, the happily ever after. I’m not a major critic, believing that there is a talent in just believing in yourself enough to put pen to paper but I do have standards. With all that said, I was extremely surprised to learn this was Amber Nation’s debut novel. “Not Alone” is the touching story of Emmalynne Morgan and Grady Finnegan, two slightly cracked souls, not consciously seeking out one another but needing each other all the same. A realistic romanceI love books that take me to different places. Places totally unlike my own. But I also love books when I can connect to a character. And connect I did.Emmalynne had been through the ringer, but came out better for it. She was a mom, she was "damaged", she was not a tiny, petite, thin perfect woman. She was real. And Grady wanted her just like that. The story of their romance was very true. I loved that Grady wanted her just as she was. I loved that, although she had low self esteem, she was still such a strong woman, a great mom and friend. I cheered her on and cried for her. I yelled at Grady when he needed it.My only issue- and it is a small one- is that the gay best friend is SO stereotypically gay. Ugh. I really hate that.Reviewed by Erin**Free copy provided for honest review**for more reviews visit WeLoveKink(dot)com

Wow what a wonderful read this was. I didn't quite know what to expect, I had got this free off amazon awhile ago and picked it to start reading last night. Emmalynne is always putting everyone ahead of her, even though she made it through some very tough stuff including her marriage to Bryce. She has a wonderful 9 yr old son Tucker and a town of folks that love her. Enter Grady a hot ex-special services guy who is taking over his uncle's bar. I love their relationship, as well as Emmy Lou's best friends Tess and Toby. This book is romantic and suspenseful. Great read and I loved the ending.

So disappointed...I read this one because the author has been recommended as "similar author" when you type Robyn Carr, Emily March etc....Writing was nos bad, even if the change of narrator at the beginning of every chapter could be annoying. I can't say I didn't like the hero and heroine because they were so sickly, too soft..characterless !The only moment I really enjoyed was at the last page, last 3 paragraphs in epilogue.

This story is amazing!! I fell in love with Grady! Would have liked to have heard more of his past. I loved the fact that EmmaLynne wasn't a size 0! Toby cracked me up! I hope to hear more from him in Ambers other books.I will admit at first I wasn't drawn in, but after a few chapters i couldn't stop reading! Amber you are a fantastic writer, I can't wait to see what's next!! <3
