This book was a very pleasant surprise, and I am hoping that this will be turned into a series because I would love to know more about Riley. Please hold while I go stalk the author’s site to find out…………(muzak playing)…………………………………… Ok, I don’t see anything that says there will be another. *sigh* Soraya, if you read this – please consider a continuation!! Edit/Correction: Soraya says there will be a sequel! So make sure you sign up to stalk her on Twitter and her website to get the latest and greatest!Ok, back to my review! If you look at Soraya’s other books you will see a military romance theme. I haven’t read those, but it seems as if Change is a bit of a departure from her normal fare. Sometimes when authors try this it fails. BUT I think Soraya hit a home run with this one. I absolutely loved this story and I read it in one day, refusing to put it down. Aside from losing a child or a parent, losing a sibling is one of the worst things a person can endure, in my opinion. Losing a twin amplifies that because that person is essentially the other half of yourself. Young Riley has just lost her twin, Claudia, to what the doctors are calling a heart condition. To try and deal with her grief she goes to stay with her grandma, Sophia. And that’s what grandma wants to be called, by the way, Sophia. Barely any time passes before she meets Hunter. And Hunter wastes no time at all filling her in on why she is staying with Sophia, and who he is… and who Riley, herself, is. Riley is a leopard shifter…but not just any leopard shifter. Sophia is the matriarch of the pack, and Riley is her only heir. Oh yeah, stuff just got real. Riley is now forced to redefine her life. How does anyone do that?? For Riley it includes this huge secret. And now she finds out her life is promised to Hunter. A walk in the woods with the hottest guy she’s ever met changes everything for Riley. Again.Right away I really loved both Riley and Hunter. She is young and strong. And while she is grieving she is also growing. Hunter is protective and yet fun. Sexy and smoldering, and well, animal. And then on top of that, they are leopard shifters, which is fantastic because most often when you read about shifters they are wolves. Yes, I love wolves, but every once in a while its nice to see something different. Riley’s first shift totally made me smile. Hunter is terrific during it, and between the two of them, I just wanted to stretch my paws out and jump… well, if I had paws.“I don’t have any claim on you yet. They know that.” His breath crossed her skin. Riley felt her body quiver. “You’re beautiful, Riley, and I’m not the only alpha around here.”There was really great tension between these two. Hunter just did such a superb job at making Riley feel safe. Scratch that, at making her be safe. The flirtation between them is perfect. The kisses… *sigh* are terrific. Especially the clifftop one. You’ll see. “Riley.” He whispered her name. She watched the shape of each syllable play over his mouth. The story really had more emotion than I was expecting. As the blurb says, there is some hope for Claudia. I thought this would be kind of cheesey when all was said and done, but no, it was really terrific. I really felt everything right along with everyone else right along the way. Riley and Claudia have a redefined and very special relationship, and I loved the twist. I was impressed and thoroughly happy. When the climax hits I actually had goosebumps as I clenched my teeth hoping for a positive outcome. Of course I can't tell you what happens in the book, but trust me - it is wicked and awesome. Riley really shines and I totally had a girl crush on her :)So I’d definitely recommend this book. I really loved it. It was a bit different. There were some terrifically steamy kisses, some butterflies in the stomach that I loved, and some really great action scenes. Two thumbs, er paws up!

When Riley King lost her twin sister she felt like she lost a part of herself. Trying to grieve she goes to stay with her Grandmother who she hasn't had much of a relationship with. There she meets Hunter Logan who she is promised too, but she also finds out that she is a leopard shifter. Everything she believed about herself has taken a strange turn and Riley has to decide if she wants to be with Hunter and the life they would have or walk away. This was a unique twist for a shifter story had a ot of different angles to it that I have not seen before. Hunter is pure swagger and has a lot of respect for Riley and how she may refuse her life and is willing to take a chance with her. I thought the emotions from Riley were honest and well portrayed in the book. Worth picking up.

Ever since the death of her twin sister things have been going downhill for Riley and they get even worse when she is sent to her grandma’s ranch. There she learns of a secret that her family has been keeping from her. She finds out that she is a actually a leopard and worse yet that she has been promised to Hunter Logan for life. Intent on controlling her own life she does her best to resist him. However she soon learns that not fulfilling her destiny would commit her sister to a life on the other side without her. The story was compelling and beautifully written. The descriptions helped to transport me to Riley’s world. The storyline was unique and kept me guessing the whole way through.Riley was feisty and knew how to handle herself. She didn’t let anything stop her from doing what she thought was right, but she also had a big heart and would do anything for her loved ones.Hunter was a bit intense and a little mysterious. At first it is easy to dislike him for what he and the family have done to Riley, but then as we get to know more about him I came to love him just as Riley did. This story has a sweet romance, tons of action, and will transport you to a world where things are not always what they seem. I highly recommend this to all paranormal romance lovers it is definitely a book you can sink your teeth into.

Mediocre and anti-climactic!Maybe it was just me, but the way this one was written made it really hard for me to get into the story. I was constantly sighing, rolling my eyes and thinking "really, please tell you you did NOT just say that!". The romance was a one-day instalove that was so corny it wasn't entertaining, believable or even likeable. The "fight scenes" were a joke (it was like watching a movie fight where the camera is pointed at their feet) .....sounds terrible right? It was! There was no incentive to read another book at all.

From Lilac Wolf and StuffThis is a fairly well written, fast paced novel. Riley isn’t such a bad heroin, and Hunter is obviously smokin’! Riley can’t think of any other way to get over her sister’s death than by spending the summer with her grandmother. But turns out she can shift into a black panther, along with a bunch of others in that area. Her grandmother is the leader of the pack and wants Riley to take over. Oh she’s also supposed to “mate” with Hunter. The story does grab you and it reads so fast. Perfect vacation read! There were a couple of things in the plot that bothered me though. The inconsistencies in the story. Riley’s mother isn’t a panther and her grandmother tells her it skips a generation. But Hunter’s entire family are leopards, so why the difference? Never explained. And if they are all leopards, why are they behaving like wolves? Hunter tells her they mate for life and live in a pack. Now if you read up on leopards like I did while reading this story – I thought maybe black leopards are one of the weird cats that might do that. Nope, they hate other leopards in their area and mate when it’s time and then go their separate ways. They are unique though, they are the only smaller cat that can roar. Then she’s never met any of the other leopards, doesn’t know them at all. And they are all like “ok, strange girl who didn’t even know she could do this 2 weeks ago…you tell us what to do.” I just wasn’t buying it. I like the idea of her not knowing, but I’m not about to believe she will become the venerated leader overnight. And finally, a little ewww factor. I’m not happy that all that sex stuff (I will concede there really isn't a whole lot of this) is going on and the girl is only 17. If I’m reading about people getting all sweaty and stuff, could they both at least be in their early 20s? Not still a kid.I did zoom through it though, so that all being said it was a captivating story.

Estou ansiosa por ler o próximo volume e saber o que acontece, afinal ficaram muitas coisas por resolver =)REVIEWI finished reading "Change" on July 17, 2012 and found it a good story: I rate it four stars. When I started reading this book, I frowned and wavered between rating it only two or three stars. The beginning is too rushed and things fly. The author was unable to convey the feelings at this stage, and the phrases sounded forced and told just by being said. The enemy also presented didn’t seem credible; it should have been more worked, since it is something quite strange about whose nature I still wonder. However, the author's writing has evolved gradually over the book. It was good to watch this growth, it greatly improved the narrative. Therefore, and in general, I liked "Change." My favorite character is the Hunter, for his personality, although I haven’t been pleased by his craziness near the end. But Riley showed him how it was! I am eager to read the next book and know what happens, after all there were many things unresolved =)

Riley has been shipped off to her distant Gran after the tragic loss of her twin sister Claudia. Out in the middle of nowhere woods, Riley is thrust into the presence of Hunter. He’s big, strong and commanding. Then he tells Riley the stupidest thing she’s ever heard: She’s actually a shape shifting leopard and not just any leopard but the next in line leader as her Grandmother Sophia is the current matriarch. There’s more, Hunter is also her chosen mate. Being seventeen just isn’t what it used to be.Everyday Riley spends most of her time with Hunter. Learning to shift, communicate as leopards and the best part of all: see her sister Claudia in her new form as a spiritual guider. Yet these lessons aren’t just for fun, there is an enemy that plagues Riley’s new people. She’s got to stay focused in order to figure out if she can step up when the time comes and if Hunter is the only one for her. What happened to silly high school drama? This is an interesting self-published young adult book. I found the cover intriguing and the premise…slightly interesting. For those that are looking for another hot and heavy supernatural romance, then this is the book for you! There is passion, sparks and a strong physical connection that can’t be denied.I did enjoy learning about this ‘leopard world’. Is it similar to Twilight, yes it certainly is. I know there are readers out there that are looking for another book that is similar and I believe this would work well for that market. Personally I need a bit more from my Young Adult books. Lane knows what her target audience wants and I do feel she’s delivered the goods. I’m curious about where and how this series will develop but I’m not going to searching it out. For more information about the author and about the book, please click the cover photo to be directed to Soraya Lane's website.

Change is one of my favorite shifter books that I have read this year. I never really used to be that into shifters (I was always more on the vampire end of the spectrum) so I never really read shifter books until the end of 2011, and the first few I picked up didn't wow me. I am so glad that I didn't give up on shifters because a few months ago I picked up this book and I loved it! Since reading Change I have read a few more shifter books and I have really enjoyed them all! Riley is the perfect character for this story. She is strong willed and determined. Just enough to cause problems but also enough to be super fiesty and interesting. I loved all of the facets of her personality. And if there ever was a perfect match for her, it's Hunter. He was so great. I really liked that he wasn't afraid to stand up to Riley, even though he was way too hard on himself. I do wish that we could have seen a little bit more of him fighting with other males. I felt like Riley was pretty secluded almost the whole book. I want to see more of the rest of the pack. The detail in Change is so great. I could picture all of the scenes playing out in front of me. Soraya Lane is a great writer. Change is a shifter paranormal book that will draw you in and I think you will thoroughly enjoy it.

I liked this book. I'm very weary of reading shifter novels (werewolves included) because they come off as such animals. The whole beasts wearing human skins theme doesn't exactly thrill me. However, the author wrote this novel in such a way that I liked the voice. I liked the characters too. However, I thought the pacing was sometimes too slow, and sometimes too fast, skipping over vital information. The plot seemed a bit too simple to me, but maybe the sequel will surprise me. If this book doesn't have a sequel, which I don't think it will (judging how 2013 is almost up), then the ending kind of disappoints me. We leave the story knowing there's going to be some epic war looming in the near future. I ask you, do you go to the trouble of introducing a character to a shifter world, finally have them (view spoiler)[ accept it after a long struggle, and then cut the story off by having them leave this world to go back to their old, normal world?(hide spoiler)]Wait! hold the breaks, I was wrong, the release date of the sequel, "Legacy", has been pushed back to Jan 2014. It was supposed to come out early 2013. Let's hope they keep the release date. I will be reading the next book.

'Change' is an interesting young adult paranormal romance novel. The book focuses on Riley King, whose life is turned upside down when she loses her twin sister, is shipped off to stay with her grandmother and then discovers that she is actually a shifter - a leopard shifter. On top of all this craziness, she meets Hunter - the boy she is promised to be with forever. Riley must come to terms with who she is and her destiny, or it may cost her more than she could bear.I found the description and concept of this book to be very interesting. The story had a good amount of action, romance, and adventure. The writing was a bit slow at times, but the plot was fast paced. I felt that the dialogue seemed a bit forced at times - it didn't seem natural. The characters were intriguing but didn't have a lot of depth and little character growth occurred throughout the novel. I liked the shifter history and the paranormal world that the author creates - I think it added an unique aspect to the book and sets it apart from other shifter books.Disclosure: I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is probably perfect for some YA audiences. Unfortunately, I found Riley's internal struggle a big farce. Even though she repeatedly doubts Hunter's actions, she continues to do nothing about it. I understand she's 17, but she acts like a 12 year old (no offense, 12 year olds). I can understand her confusion and indecision, I can even give her extremely loneliness, but that's no excuse for her lack of mental processes. Also, I found Sophie really, really weird. I don't care if you're an elder or a grandma, or even the alpha of an entire pack of leopards, no one should be that casual about everything.Overall, I felt that Riley's situation should have been realistic (the death of her twin sister, going off to grandma's, learning something about herself), but either because Riley is such a dull, uni-dimensional character or because the story itself doesn't have any real conflict, the story is really boring.

So I guess it all ends well. :D I liked Change though I still can't say I'm a fan of the way the characters acted in the beginning. I can see why they did act the way they did.... but it still felt... odd to me. Plot was ... a little rushed and mostly focused on Riley deciding if she wanted to be with Hunter.I would have liked to learn a little more about the world. Maybe meet a contender, another young shifter. Not necessarily a love triangle but still someone else. The only shifter we got to meet by name (besides Riley, Hunger, and Sophia) was Imogen and Archer. I think it would have been awesome to see the world and the pack fleshed out a bit more. But over all it was a decent story and nice characters.

I enjoyed this paranormal story. The characters were believable and easy to fall in love with. Sometimes, I wanted to smack one or the other though. The story starts out with me wondering if this was a second book in a series, since it started off talking about the loss of Riley's sister, but it wasn't and I felt a little lost at first. And leaves me wondering if there would be another book because I want there to be more, but I don't see any mention of it.The story is about taking charge of your life, falling in love and family. Riley learns a lot about herself her family and her future. And how she learns to take charge of it all! While the characters don't have sex, there is a lot of heavy make out sessions and then some.

This book is amazing, with a brilliant story line. Even though it does tend to repeat itself and Riley's emotions tend to loop too much, it picks itself up with it's brilliant action and fluffy scenes. There is one major problem with this book, though. There isn't a second. Not yet at least. But this book is definitely one of my very favorites, along with Hollowlands, Maximum Ride, Chaos Walking and The Thirteen series.

But i truly did like this book a ot, I wasn´t quite into it at the beginning but then I wanted t know eery decision she was going to make. Liked it alot, didn´t love it though. I believe this is a stand-alone but I would like more. Perhaps there will be more?? There was a lot of teen sexual tension, some action and a lot of shifting. I do enjoy shifter books with the whole mating thing, I just wish there was... more story with it? It was a very good read, loved the characters but if there was a little bit more to the story it would have been 5 stars for sure.

This book was okay. I'm not sure why exactly but I just couldn't get all that into this book. It was a clean read and for a YA book, that is good, but I think even the action scenes were just too tame for me. It felt like scenes & people were missing for me. All in all this is a pretty good story for the YA genre but it was just missing something for me.

Change was a good book. All about "change" and something you find yourself going through in your life. However I don't think many of us find out that our "change" is literally changing into another form or animal as Riley finds after the death of her twin. Looking forward to reading more of this author and her books. Really enjoyable and fun.

Amazing book in desperate need of a sequel! Avoided cheesiness really well, which tends to happen in shifter books. But Soraya keeps it's believable and classy. Plus, a adorable romance that successfully incorporates mates without making the reader roll her/his eyes.

Good characters interesting story line. I don't think the soul steals were explained enough which took away from the plot. The book mostly focuses on Riley learning she's a shifter and her relationship with Hunter . The soul stealers feel like more of an half thought.
